About Redwood Materials

Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 by JB Straubel, co-founder and former CTO of Tesla, on a simple but radical idea: the critical minerals powering the energy transition already exist. They just need to come back. Today Redwood is the largest lithium-ion battery recycler in North America — recovering, refining, and redeploying critical minerals from end-of-life batteries back into the supply chain. On the energy side, Redwood has deployed the largest second-life battery project in the world, delivering power to AI data centers in months rather than years using proprietary energy architecture engineered entirely in-house. The company is profitable, the market it operates in is projected to grow 20 to 50 times over the next decade, and Redwood is the only company with the supply chain, the technology, and the operational scale to lead it.

Position Summary:

Working with Engineering, Finance, and Manufacturing, the role aligns supplier selection and delivery plans with design, ramp, and cost targets. This is a fully on-site role at 100 Hooper, with approximately 10-25% international travel to supplier sites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Guide Engineering and Manufacturing on supplier readiness for new product introduction builds and mass production ramp
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve escalations in quality, cost, and delivery
  • Advise cross-functional partners on lead time, inventory, and supply risk across the product lifecycle

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, Economics, or a related technical field (Master's degree or MBA preferred)
  • 8+ years of sourcing or supply chain management experience (6+ years with a Master's degree), ideally in solar, energy, EV, or electronics manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of solar cell and module manufacturers and the global solar supplier landscape
  • Working knowledge of solar cell and module manufacturing processes, cost drivers, and process constraints
  • Experience building cost models and negotiating commercial and technical terms with suppliers using should-cost fundamentals
