Role summary

Robinson Helicopter Company, Inc. seeks an Engineering Program Manager in Torrance, California. This role involves managing engineering projects for new product development and improvements, ensuring project objectives and resource utilization. Key responsibilities include defining project scope, incorporating stakeholder feedback, leading design and project reviews, managing suppliers, identifying and resolving issues, monitoring risks, defining requirements, coordinating production transitions, communicating with leadership, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards. The role also involves customer interaction, process standardization, and documentation creation, including Project Plans, Certification Plans, and Compliance Reports.

Engineering Program Manager (Robinson Helicopter Company, Inc.; Torrance, California): Manage engineering projects across functional teams for new proprietary product development and product improvement to ensure project objectives are achieved and resources are efficiently utilized. Develop and manage engineering project scope and objectives, incorporate feedback from stakeholders, and ensure technical viability for proposed projects. Create and maintain project documentation including project plans, schedules, and status reports. Lead multi-disciplinary engineering project reviews and design reviews. Lead collaboration amongst and between engineers, suppliers, marketing, and manufacturing teams. Identify, track, and facilitate resolution of engineering issues. Monitor engineering risks, plan mitigations, and take action when risks are realized. Identify and define requirements and allocate requirements amongst the project team. Coordinate project transitions including entry into production and entry into service. Lead regular project meetings and provide engineering project briefings to company leadership. Create and maintain Confluence pages to communicate project information with stakeholders. Coordinate with third parties, regulators, and vendors including requests for proposals, contracts, and managing contracts. Lead lessons learned meetings and ensure lessons are incorporated in procedures and processes. Interact with customers to validate product concepts, gather data, develop use cases, and resolve problems. Work with the project team to ensure that engineering regulatory requirements, safety standards, policies, and guidance for design, production, and airworthiness are satisfied. Participate in design activities and make suggestions to enhance the value of the new products. Create and review project documentation including Project Plans, Certification Plans, Compliance Reports, and Conformity Records. Develop and standardize processes and documentation for program management and provide recommendations to improve work processes.
Qualifications
Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering, Engineering Management or related field.
Experience Requirements: Five (5) years of experience in the position offered or related occupation.
Must have experience with the following: managing product development projects in aviation or automotive applications; managing market introductions for vehicles (trade show property development and knowledge of vehicle mass production); managing external suppliers (monitoring and control of scope, quality, cost, and schedule for large complex contracts); establishing and managing program requirements as informed by market expectations, competitor benchmarks, contract and regulatory requirements, and internal stakeholders; and pre-production vehicle development (design, testing, certification, and manufacturing).
