Role summary
This remote, field-based role is for a Research & Development Field Account Manager focusing on Strategic Accounts within the biopharma industry. The primary responsibility is to build trusted relationships with scientific and managerial stakeholders in key accounts, gain early visibility into emerging molecule programs, and support the adoption of technologies that advance scientific progress. The role involves mapping molecule pipelines, identifying technology seeding opportunities, driving technology validation through trials, and supporting pilot/clinical phases. Collaboration with internal teams like Product Development and Commercial is crucial. The position requires a Master's degree in a life science discipline and at least 3 years of customer-facing experience in biopharma R&D environments, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Proficiency in CRM systems like SFDC is necessary, and willingness to travel over 50% is expected.
Grow with us – Your Responsibilities
Build sustained relationships with scientific and managerial stakeholders across Strategic Account R&D sites to increase access, trust, and visibility into molecule programs, discovery activities, and R&D process decisions
Map and maintain molecule pipeline visibility by tracking program status, site footprints, and upcoming decision points from discovery through R&D to enable timely technology seeding and opportunity creation
Identify and prioritize early-stage technology seeding opportunities by translating R&D process needs and discovery-stage requirements into defined use cases and aligning appropriate Business Unit technical experts to support validation activities across new molecules, processes, and modalities
Drive validation of selected technologies through process and product trials, including scale-up, scale-down, and manufacturing-sensitive validation activities, while documenting outcomes and readiness signals that support progression toward pilot, clinical, or manufacturing adoption
Support pilot and clinical-phase (Phase I-III) process and product trials by enabling process optimization, validation activities, and manufacturing readiness in collaboration with Product Development, Tech Transfer, and CMO partners
Monitor the evolving process landscape within assigned accounts by identifying new processes, transfers, and modalities and proactively highlighting footprint changes, risks, and business implications to relevant internal stakeholders
Execute structured handovers of validated programs by providing stakeholder maps, process context, validation evidence, and recommended next steps to commercial teams
What will convince us
Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, or a comparable scientific discipline
3+ years of experience in customer-facing roles within biopharma environments, including process development support, technical sales, applications, or scientific support, with strong exposure to R&D environments
Demonstrate the ability to operate credibly within highly scientific settings and translate early-stage R&D requirements into structured validation and technology adoption pathways
Communicate confidently with diverse senior decision makers and collaborate effectively with Technical Sales teams to shape complex customer solutions
Manage stakeholders successfully across customer R&D networks and cross-functional internal organizations
Utilize CRM systems, including SFDC, and maintain disciplined documentation practices for pipeline management, customer process tracking, validation evidence, and decision-point management
Demonstrate willingness to travel more than 50% to support customer engagement and field-based activities
Identify with Sartorius' core values of Sustainability, Openness, and Enjoyment
Travel required to visit customer sites within the US and potential for international travel for business meetings.
