Role summary
Scan.com is building America's national imaging network to connect patients, providers, and payers for faster, better-value diagnostic imaging. They are seeking a Patient Services Specialist to join their Revenue Operations team. This role involves managing the end-to-end medical imaging pathway, acting as the stateside representative for their brand, and collaborating with internal and external partners. Responsibilities include quality assurance, pattern recognition, offshore leadership, communication with external partners, ownership of market-specific metrics, and project ownership. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of HIPAA and medical insurance regulations, experience with EHR systems and MS Office (especially Excel), and the ability to manage high-volume tasks in a fast-paced, remote environment. AI awareness and strong judgment are also expected.
We're Scan.com. We're building America's national imaging network: the infrastructure that connects patients, providers, and payers to faster, better-value diagnostic imaging. Thousands of patients move through our platform every day, and each is a real person waiting for an answer to a healthcare concern. We exist to get them that answer faster.
We manage the medical imaging pathway end-to-end. Providers order through a single point of entry, and from there, we run the entire medical diagnostic pathway. Managing the full pathway, rather than brokering pieces of it, is what lets us deliver imaging faster, at higher quality, and at a lower cost than the fragmented status quo.
We're looking for a Patient Services Specialist at an exciting time. We've raised over $200m in funding to date, reached profitability, and are growing 100% year on year.
Millions of people wait too long for a diagnosis. Come help us fix that.
WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE IN THIS ROLE:
As a Patient Services Specialist, you will be the stateside representative of our respective subsidiary/PC brand. Our team collaborates closely with both internal and external partners to ensure alignment and seamless processing of patient cases.
The Case Operations department comprises two separate teams: Medical Records and Patient Services. This role reports to the Patient Services Manager, who oversees all patient services specialists and their respective offshore teams.
As a scale-up business, expect this role to develop over time. Some of what you'll be involved in:
Quality Assurance Checks
Pattern Recognition / Discrepancy Flagging
Offshore leadership
Strong relationship development with internal cross-functional teams and market leads, relating to the assigned market
Case communications with external partners (law firms, clinics, third-party companies)
Identify patterns/discrepancies proactively to avoid reactive responses
Ownership of metrics (phones, emails, QA/send, case updates) specific to the assigned market/brand
Project ownership — development of processes, plan/time management of expected finish, ability to pivot as changes present themselves
WHAT YOU MIGHT BRING TO THE TABLE:
Working knowledge of HIPAA and other medical insurance regulations and terminology
Previous experience working in electronic health/medical record systems
Previous experience in MS Office products, especially Excel
Ability to manage high-volume patient updates using multiple systems in a fast-paced environment
Making calls to law firms for case updates and case manager emails
Maintaining various files, logs, and medical records to ensure accuracy and completeness of information
Interacting with attorneys and case managers via call and email regarding patient records and payment status
AI REQUIREMENTS
At Scan.com, AI isn't a side project; it's how we work. For a member of this team, that means using AI daily to draft, check, and move faster. For the person leading this team, the bar is higher: you're expected to see where AI and agentic tooling can restructure the work itself, not just speed up your own tasks.
Tier 3 — AI-Building
You use AI daily in your own work, and you actively identify and help build automations or agentic workflows that change how your team operates — not just personal productivity gains. You know how to evaluate whether an AI-driven process is safe and reliable enough for sensitive patient data before rolling it out to the team.
A VIEW ON OUR CULTURE
We're building something that matters. Every scan we speed up is a real person waiting on an answer, and that urgency runs through everything we do. We move fast, own outcomes, and take pride in our output. If you like ambiguity, working with ambitious people, and want your work to visibly move the needle, you'll feel at home here. For you to be successful at Scan.com, you must embody our values.

You invest in understanding our business: teams, customers, processes.
You invest in your own growth and are willing to unlearn.
HOW WE WILL INTERVIEW YOU
Introductory call with our Talent Partner — roughly 30 minutes.
Should it feel like there is an initial fit for all, we will invite you back to a video call with the hiring manager – roughly 45 minutes. This is a more structured interview that will deep-dive into the role and technical needs
‘Scan Standard’ interview, where our panel screens for values alignment and the success factors that matter at Scan.com. You will also be assessed on your AI fluency at the stage and depth relevant to your role (see AI requirements above).
Meet the founders and/or other team members. Again, length varies depending on how many people and whether in person or via video call.
