Role summary
Scout AI is seeking a GTM Customer Engineer Manager to lead their customer engineering function and serve as a trusted technical advisor for customers adopting their robotic foundation model, Fury. This role involves guiding customers through technical discovery and deployment, influencing architecture decisions, and developing evaluation frameworks. The manager will also recruit, mentor, and lead a team of customer engineers, establishing scalable processes and playbooks. The position requires strong programming skills (Python, TypeScript, JSON), production experience with LLMs/VLMs/VLAs, and a passion for advancing AI safety in defense applications. This is a hybrid role with occasional travel.
The future of defense will be decided by those who field intelligent machines at scale. At Scout AI, we’re developing Fury, the first robotic foundation model for defense, to give U.S. forces overwhelming, adaptable, and autonomous power across every domain. Fury enables human operators to command fleets of robots through natural language, and empowers those machines to sense, decide, and act together as one. This mission will ask everything of us: urgency, precision, and relentless work.
The RoleWe’re looking for a GTM Customer Engineer Manager to become a trusted technical advisor to the customers and partners adopting Fury into their core missions and products. You’ll work closely with customer engineering, product, and operations teams as they field new capabilities powered by Fury: advising on architecture design decisions, developing evaluation frameworks, and guiding customers through the most cutting-edge implementation patterns for foundation models — while building and leading Scout AI’s customer engineering function as we scale.
Working closely with our Sales, Product, and Engineering teams, you’ll guide a focused portfolio of customers from technical discovery through successful deployment, combining deep engineering expertise with customer-facing skills to help customers unlock the full potential of Fury while maintaining our high standards for safety and reliability. We’re a startup. You’ll be moving fast, context-switching daily, and helping define the culture and process as we go. This is a rare opportunity to come in early and architect the future of defense.
