Role summary
SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Electrical Design Engineer for its Starlink satellite constellation project. This role involves full lifecycle ownership of hardware, from system design and schematic capture to PCB layout, troubleshooting, and production. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, thermal, software, and RF engineering. Responsibilities include developing high-reliability electronics, driving system trades, component selection, and supporting hardware through production and flight. Experience with mixed-signal circuit design, high-speed digital, analog, power electronics, and RF is crucial. Programming skills in Python or C/C++ are preferred.
SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.
SR. ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER, ELECTRICAL - SATELLITES (STARLINK)
SpaceX is leveraging its experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world’s most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink is the world’s largest satellite constellation and is providing fast, reliable internet to millions of users worldwide. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system – thousands of satellites, consumer receivers that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing, and the software that brings it all together. We’ve only begun to scratch the surface of Starlink’s potential global impact. As we continue to upgrade and expand the constellation, we’re looking for best-in-class engineers to join the team.
As an Electrical Design Engineer on Starlink, you’ll have ownership over the entire life-cycle of the hardware that enables this connectivity, and sits at the intersection of electrical, mechanical, thermal analysis, software, and antenna/RF engineering. Challenges range from high-speed digital communications, analog, network system integration, power electronics, and RF devices. Your work will include everything from system design and schematic capture to PCB layout oversight; as well as hardware troubleshooting to driving requirements for the underlying silicon and complete product production and test. This also includes driving successful business outcomes across interdisciplinary subsystems of the satellite, inclusive of mechanical and software engineering peers among other engineering disciplines. Sub-teams include:
Your placement on these teams will be determined throughout the interviewing process after factoring in technical fit, expertise, and your personal preference.
