Role summary

We are seeking a Director of Platform & Integration to lead the platform services and technology integration functions for live event production. This hybrid role combines platform ownership (uptime, security, scalability) with the rapid pace of production integration. You will manage a team, define strategy for core platforms like Perforce and TeamCity, and oversee the integration of new hardware and software. Responsibilities include establishing security roadmaps, acting as an escalation point for critical issues, managing vendor relationships, forecasting capacity, and developing QA criteria. The ideal candidate has deep hands-on experience with Perforce and CI/CD tools, background integrating media systems, server administration skills, and familiarity with security frameworks. Experience in live production environments and applying AI for operational efficiency is highly valued. This is an on-site role in Burbank requiring occasional travel and availability outside standard business hours.

Sphere Entertainment Co. is a leader in immersive experiences, technology and media. The Company includes Sphere, an experiential medium powered by advanced technologies. The first Sphere opened in Las Vegas, with a second venue planned for Abu Dhabi. In addition, the Company includes MSG Networks, which operates two regional sports and entertainment networks, MSG Network and MSG Sportsnet, as well as a direct-to-consumer and authenticated streaming product, MSG+, delivering a wide range of live sports content and other programming. More information is available at www.sphereentertainmentco.com.

Who are we hiring?

The Director of Platform & Integration leads the platform services and technology integration functions that underpin live event production. The role owns two closely linked disciplines: the administration and long-term health of the shared development and collaboration platforms the organization builds on (Perforce, TeamCity, TeamViewer and adjacent tooling), and the qualification and integration of new technology, servers and hardware into the event production pipeline.

This is a deliberately hybrid role. It pairs the discipline of platform ownership (uptime, access control, versioning, patching, capacity and security roadmap) with the pace of production integration, where new hardware and software must be evaluated, staged and deployed against immovable show dates. The director is expected to hold a wide breadth of technical experience, keep an even temperament under urgent show-critical conditions, and still carry a multi-year plan for platform security and scalability.

What will you do?

  • Lead and manage a small tactical team responsible for platform services and technology integration, setting priorities across steady-state platform work and show-driven deployments.
  • Own the strategy, administration and lifecycle of core platform services including Perforce, TeamCity and TeamViewer, covering availability, access control, versioning, backup and recovery, patching and capacity planning.
  • Define and execute the integration path for new technology, servers and hardware into the event production pipeline, from evaluation and proof of concept through qualification, staging, documentation and production rollout.
  • Establish and maintain a long-term security roadmap for platform and production infrastructure, including identity and access management, credentialing, remote access controls, network segmentation and audit readiness.
  • Serve as escalation point for show-critical platform and infrastructure issues, providing calm, decisive technical judgement during live production and compressed deployment windows.
  • Build the standards, runbooks and change-management practices that allow new hardware and software to enter the production environment without destabilizing active shows.
  • Partner with Creative, Production, Engineering and Systems Architecture teams to translate production requirements into platform and infrastructure capability.
  • Manage vendor and OEM relationships for platform tooling, server and hardware supply, including evaluation criteria, licensing, support agreements and renewal planning.
  • Own the capacity and refresh forecast for build infrastructure, storage and production servers, and translate it into budget and procurement recommendations.
  • Develop QA and acceptance criteria for integrated systems, ensuring performance, reliability and supportability are proven before a technology reaches a show floor.
  • Mentor and develop the team across both disciplines, building depth so platform ownership and production integration are not single-threaded on any one person.
  • Shape the multi-year technical roadmap for platform services and production integration in support of future venues and event formats.
  • Provide exceptional experiences for our guests, partners, and team members, including by adhering to our appearance and presentation guidelines while on-site
  • Reports to the VP of Event Technology.

    • What do you need to succeed?

  • Deep hands-on experience administering Perforce (Helix Core) at scale, including depot architecture, replication and proxy topologies.
  • Experience owning CI/CD infrastructure such as TeamCity, Jenkins or equivalent, including build agent fleets and pipeline reliability.
  • Background integrating show and media systems hardware (media servers, playback, LED processing, AV networking) into a live production environment.
  • Working knowledge of virtualization, storage and Windows/Linux server administration, plus scripting for automation (PowerShell, Python).
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and practices applicable to production networks, including zero-trust remote access and privileged access management.
  • Prior experience operating in a venue, broadcast, touring or 24/7 operations environment where downtime is highly visible.
  • Demonstrated use of AI and agentic automation to drive operational efficiency: applying AI agents to routine platform administration, build and deployment workflows, monitoring, diagnostics and documentation so the team scales without adding headcount.
  • Applied understanding of AI-assisted operations, including agent-driven log and anomaly analysis, automated patch and vulnerability triage, access-review automation, and the governance and guardrails required to run such tooling safely on production networks.

    • Special Requirements

  • This is an on-site role based in Burbank.
  • Development weeks follow standard business hours; however, the role requires oversight of show deployments that will involve travel, evening/weekend availability, and occasional long days on-site.
  • Must be able to pass any required background checks and to travel to show sites as needed.

    • #LI-Onsite
