Role summary

SPINS is seeking a Solutions Engineer/Consultant to guide clients in migrating their complex data deliveries to SPINS’s new data platform. This role involves leading client discovery conversations to understand current data usage, translating these needs into data specifications, and recommending optimal delivery solutions (SPINS Share, SPINS Extract, Managed Extract, SPINS Intelligence, or discontinuation). You will co-own the follow-through process, from specification confirmation to onboarding handoff, and contribute to sales enablement materials. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of client-facing data experience, hands-on knowledge of syndicated retail data (SPINS, NielsenIQ, Circana), and expertise in SPINS data delivery. Familiarity with cloud data platforms, SQL, and BI tools is preferred. This hybrid role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to manage ambiguity and evolving product offerings.

Solutions Engineer/Consultant, SPINS Shares & Extracts

As a Solutions Engineer/Consultant for SPINS Shares and SPINS Extracts, you will help our clients move their largest and most complex data deliveries onto SPINS’s new data platform. Working alongside our Senior Sales Engineer and Customer Success team, you will lead discovery conversations with clients about how they use their data today, translate what you learn into clear data specifications, and recommend the right path for each delivery, whether that is a scheduled SPINS Share, a right-sized SPINS Extract, a Managed Extract, a SPINS Intelligence view, or retiring a pull that is no longer needed. You will co-own the follow-through, from confirming specifications to handing off to onboarding, and help turn what we learn into talk tracks and enablement that others can use.

This role is for someone who is comfortable in front of clients when not every answer is final. Our delivery options are evolving, and you will need to lead with curiosity, be candid about what is still being defined, and adapt to each client’s workflow without overpromising.  Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead client discovery conversations about large data Extracts: how each one is used, what question it answers, how often it is needed, where it goes downstream, and who relies on it.
  • Identify overlap and redundancy across a client’s Extracts and recommend the most efficient path for each, including consolidating into a SPINS Share (aggregated and/or trended), trimming or splitting to fit SPINS Extracts, Managed Extracts, SPINS Intelligence, or discontinuing.
  • Capture and confirm data specifications at the Extract level (measures, geographies, time periods and products), prepare first-version configurations, and keep client records accurate and current.
  • Co-lead follow-through with the Senior Sales Engineer and Customer Success Managers, including follow-up sessions, specification confirmation, and handoff to onboarding.
  • Guide clients on data volume and cell-count trade-offs so deliveries are sized to real needs, and recognize when a request expands scope and should route to a commercial conversation.
  • Communicate candidly when guidance is still evolving, log open questions, and escalate to Product, commercial and Data Governance partners for resolution.
  • Partner closely with Customer Success, Client Insights Managers, Data Enablement, Product and Marketing to keep clients informed and transitions on track; track client status in Planhat.
  • Review recorded client conversations (Gong) to refine the approach, and contribute to talk tracks, FAQs, decision trees and enablement materials that help Customer Success and Client Insights teams run these conversations.
  • Support Sales and pre-sale clients with questions about SPINS Shares and SPINS Extracts capabilities and how data is delivered.

    • Requirements:

    Education & Experience

  • 3–5 years in a client-facing data role, such as solutions consulting, sales engineering, analytics consulting or data implementation.
  • Hands-on experience with syndicated retail or CPG data (for example SPINS, NielsenIQ or Circana), including measures, geographies, product hierarchies and time periods.
  • Working expertise in SPINS data delivery (Satori, SPINS Extracts and SPINS Shares), or comparable syndicated data delivery experience and the ability to become the go-to expert on SPINS Shares and Extracts quickly.
  • Proven ability to lead discovery and translate business needs into clear data requirements and specifications.
  • Comfort working with large data sets and delivery concepts such as cell counts, aggregated versus trended data, and recurring data feeds.
  • Excellent communication skills, including explaining technical change in plain language and handling difficult client conversations calmly.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage many concurrent client engagements with attention to detail.

    • The following is strongly preferred:

  • Experience with SPINS Intelligence.
  • Familiarity with cloud data delivery and ingestion (for example Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks or Amazon S3) and how clients load data into their own systems.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Experience supporting a product migration or client change-management effort.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Planhat and Gong.
