Role summary

SRC, Inc. is seeking a Senior Principal Mission Engineer to support the U.S. Air Force's Big Safari Program Office at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. This role provides Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) for advancing Electromagnetic Battle Management (EMBM) capabilities on the EA-37B COMPASS CALL and RC-135 RIVET JOINT. The engineer will translate operational needs into testable capabilities, bridging the gap between users, acquisition teams, and developers. Responsibilities include planning and supporting demonstrations, experiments, and tests; translating needs into engineering objectives; reviewing requirements and technical specifications; and assessing system integration and risks. Experience in DoD acquisition, mission engineering, systems engineering, test and evaluation, and specific mission areas like EW, SIGINT, or C4ISR is required, along with a Top Secret clearance and 15+ years of experience. Familiarity with open systems architectures like OMS and MOSA is preferred.

SRC, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Senior Principal Mission Engineer to support the U.S. Air Force's Big Safari Program Office at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. This position will provide Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) support to Government program offices and operational stakeholders responsible for advancing Electromagnetic Battle Management (EMBM) capabilities on the EA-37B COMPASS CALL and RC-135 RIVET JOINT.

This role is focused on turning operational needs into credible, testable capabilities through operational demonstrations, experimentation, and evaluation. The successful candidate will bridge the gap between aircrew and operational-user needs, Government acquisition teams, systems engineers, test organizations, and industry developers. The work requires a practical understanding of airborne electromagnetic warfare, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), command and control, and the integration challenges associated with fielding mission software and hardware on operational aircraft.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as a mission engineering and technical advisor supporting EMBM capability development, integration, operational demonstration, and evaluation activities for EA-37B COMPASS CALL and RC-135 RIVET JOINT mission systems
  • Plan, coordinate, and support operational demonstrations, experimentation events, ground tests, flight tests, and other evaluations that assess EMBM capability utility, interoperability, technical maturity, and mission effectiveness
  • Translate operational problems, aircrew feedback, intelligence requirements, and mission needs into clear engineering objectives, mission threads, evaluation criteria, and actionable capability recommendations
  • Support development, refinement, and review of requirements, technical specifications, interface documentation, test plans, evaluation plans, and other acquisition and engineering artifacts
  • Review integration dependencies, mission risks, technical risks, test limitations, and operational constraints affecting the transition of EMBM capabilities to operational platforms
  • Support implementation and assessment of applicable open-system and interoperability approaches, including Open Mission Systems (OMS), Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA), Agile Mission Suite Government Reference Architecture (AMS GRA), and Universal Command and Control Interface (UCI)
  • Participate in test execution and event coordination, including development of test objectives, data-collection approaches, mission scenarios, and post-event analysis. Ground Test Director or similar test leadership duties may be required

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related technical discipline and 15 + years of experience
  • An active Top Secret clearance is required
  • Experience in DoD acquisition, mission engineering, systems engineering, test and evaluation, operational experimentation, mission systems integration, or advanced defense technology development. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree, consistent with contract requirements
  • Experience with one or more of the following mission areas: electronic warfare (EW), electromagnetic spectrum operations (EMSO), signals intelligence (SIGINT), airborne ISR, C4ISR, mission planning, sensor fusion, or airborne command and control
  • Working knowledge of RF-based mission systems, including relevant aspects of communications, radar, electronic attack, electronic protection, signals collection, geolocation, or spectrum awareness

Ways to Stand Out

  • Direct experience supporting EA-37B COMPASS CALL, RC-135 RIVET JOINT, or comparable airborne EW, SIGINT, ISR, or mission-command platforms
  • Familiarity with EMBM, Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2), Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS), or related multi-platform command-and-control initiatives
  • Experience integrating or evaluating OMS, MOSA, UCI, AMS GRA, or other open mission-system architectures and data/interface standards
