Role summary

Steadfast Health is seeking an Outpatient Addiction Counselor to provide low-barrier, high-quality substance use disorder (SUD) care. This role involves conducting biopsychosocial assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and delivering evidence-based therapies like CBT, MI, and DBT. Responsibilities include individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, care coordination, and maintaining timely documentation. The position offers a Monday-Friday schedule with protected time for administrative tasks and professional development, along with comprehensive benefits and a sign-on bonus. Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30-5:00. No nights, weekends, or on-call. One protected hour built into every day.

You’ll join a team that includes a Clinic Manager, Medical Assistant, Peer Recovery Specialist, Advanced Practice Provider, and Case Manager.

Compensation: $70,000-$80,000 W2 annual salary, based on experience and licensure with a 5% monthly performance bonus structure. This is a true salary: your pay is the same every pay period regardless of patient no-shows, cancellations, and a growing caseload never affects your paycheck.

Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

Provide individual and group therapy sessions for patients with substance use disorders, both in-person and via telehealth, embodying the Steadfast patient-first ethos.

Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and develop individualized treatment plans, modeling a non-paternalistic and destigmatizing approach to patient care.

Utilize evidence-based therapeutic modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), to support patient recovery.

Collaborate with all clinic-level team members to formulate and execute patient care plans, including Advanced Practice Providers, Medical Assistants, and Peer Recovery Specialists, ensuring integrated treatment approaches.

Support patients in crisis intervention situations and coordinate higher levels of care when necessary.

Maintain thorough and timely documentation in compliance with state, federal, and organizational guidelines.

Pioneer innovative ways of improving access and overall care for disadvantaged, marginalized populations.

Champion the company’s mission by modeling compassion and fostering trust and strong relationships with patients and communities.

Educate patients and families on SUD, co-occurring disorders, and available resources to support sustained recovery and overall health.

Participate in regular case consultations, team meetings, and continuing education to stay current with best practices in SUD treatment.

Qualifications

LPCC or equivalent licensure (LISW, LMFT, etc.) or associates pursuing independent licensure in Ohio.

Certification in addiction counseling is a plus.

Experience with telehealth platforms and virtual care delivery is a plus.

Strong knowledge of SUD diagnoses, medications, and treatment modalities.

Ability to effectively interact with diverse staff, patients, and community members.

Excellent interpersonal skills, a flexible, can-do mentality, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Ability to respond promptly to emergency situations, including providing assistance to patients in distress or crisis situations.

Sufficient visual and auditory abilities to assess patient needs, read documentation, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members.

Ability to navigate clinic spaces, including patient rooms, offices, and common areas.

Work may involve exposure to high-stress situations requiring emotional resilience, professionalism, and effective de-escalation skills.
