Role summary

Stream is seeking a Staff Engineer to own the media plane of their Video product. This role involves working with a modern stack including SFU in Go, large-scale ingest and recording fleets, and a global multi-cloud edge. The position requires expertise in system design, software reliability, and roadmap planning within the video streaming and realtime media domain. The role is full-time, hybrid in Amsterdam (3 days/week) or remote within the EU, with visa sponsorship available for the Netherlands.

Stream powers Chat, Video, AI Moderation, and Activity Feeds for billions of global end users across thousands of different apps.

You'd own the media plane of Stream Video. It's a modern stack: SFU in Go, cascading to handle very large audiences, ingest and recording fleets, global multi-cloud edge. Video is fundamentally different from request-based services, which means this is not just a seat in Stream's shared infra team, but a genuine Staff role with its own roadmap defined by you.
