About The Role
The Lead Product Designer within Target’s Emerging Experiences team plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of Target’s digital landscape. This position involves designing innovative, high-fidelity prototypes and storytelling that explore new guest experiences and technological advancements. The successful candidate will collaborate across multifunctional teams—including product, engineering, brand, and store operations—to prototype, conceptualize, and bring to life immersive experiences that align with Target’s strategic vision. The role emphasizes human-centered design principles, ensuring that every touchpoint is intuitive, emotionally engaging, and accessible. As a leader in the team, you will mentor junior designers, facilitate design sprints, and contribute to a culture of curiosity, experimentation, and inclusive design. Your work will directly influence the development of future digital touchpoints, making complex ideas tangible and impactful for both guests and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in product design with a strong portfolio showcasing successful projects
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Principle, Framer, Cursor, and Lovable
  • Experience participating in design sprints, early-stage concepting, or innovation labs
  • Advanced skills in strategic problem-solving, systems thinking, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to balance creative exploration with practical, scalable solutions
  • Experience leveraging data and insights to inform design decisions
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills to effectively present ideas and concepts
  • Comfort working in ambiguity and tackling complex challenges across teams
  • Passion for inclusive design and creating joyful, purposeful experiences at scale

Responsibilities

  • Participate in cross-functional design sprints to explore new guest experiences and emerging technologies
  • Develop future-state journeys, conceptual models, and visual storytelling through product design and prototyping
  • Facilitate collaboration among multiple design and product teams, ensuring alignment and shared vision
  • Create comprehensive design deliverables including wireframes, user flows, UI designs, and prototypes
  • Guide and mentor junior designers, fostering a culture of high craftsmanship and continuous learning
  • Maintain high standards of design quality, emphasizing accessibility, user research, information architecture, and interaction design
  • Contribute to a team environment that values curiosity, collaboration, and human-centered practices
  • Support the exploration of innovative digital experiences that enhance guest engagement and business growth
