About The Role
The UX Designer II at Renaissance is a pivotal role responsible for translating the company's mission to accelerate learning into compelling, user-centered design solutions. This position involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams—including design, engineering, and product management—to develop innovative products and services that meet the needs of educators and students. The ideal candidate is a versatile designer with strong interaction and visual design skills, capable of managing projects independently from discovery to execution. They will contribute to the evolution of Renaissance’s UX practices, leverage established methodologies, and foster a collaborative environment that encourages creative problem-solving. The role emphasizes delivering high-quality design artifacts, participating in planning and estimation, and driving UX excellence across multiple projects in a fast-paced, agile setting.
Qualifications

  • A degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, Information Architecture, Human Factors, Psychology, Cognitive Science, or a related field, or equivalent project/portfolio experience.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience designing interactive experiences in web-based software environments, with a portfolio of prior work examples.
  • Strong understanding of UX methodology and lifecycle across various channels and platforms.
  • Passion for solving problems in education, particularly for educators and students.
  • Proficiency in design software tools such as Figma (preferred).
  • Deep knowledge of design research methods to uncover customer insights.
  • Demonstrable skills in data visualization, translating complex data into intuitive workflows.
  • Experience with component libraries, repositories, and internal communication tools.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and managing multiple projects, deadlines, and teams.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with design, engineering, and product teams to execute and deliver successful products through an iterative, customer-focused design process.
  • Contribute to project planning, work estimation, and coordination of broader work streams.
  • Create high-quality design deliverables aligned with UX goals and priorities, managing tasks independently within larger schedules.
  • Leverage and extend existing UX techniques, templates, presentations, and assets to develop solutions and analysis materials.
  • Contribute to the adaptation and enhancement of Renaissance’s UX tools, methodologies, and software, proposing new solutions when appropriate.
  • Foster cross-disciplinary collaboration, encouraging innovative ideas and cohesive teamwork.
  • Drive UX delivery excellence, enhancing internal and external UX influence and achieving organizational goals.
