Role summary
Stripe is seeking an experienced Data Analyst for its Risk Data Science team. About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst to join our Risk Data Science team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for defining and executing the data strategy that underpins Stripe's risk management as a product offering. Your primary focus will be on establishing metrics, developing data products, and creating analytical frameworks that support risk decision-making at scale. You will collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Risk leadership to ensure data initiatives align with the company's strategic goals. This role involves designing and maintaining reliable data pipelines, metrics, and dashboards that serve as the backbone for risk assessment and experimentation. Additionally, you will lead efforts to evolve Stripe's risk experimentation strategy, enabling rigorous testing and learning across diverse merchant populations. Mentoring junior analysts and influencing cross-functional teams to adopt best practices will be a key aspect of your responsibilities, ensuring the team maintains high standards of analytical excellence and impact.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Data Analytics, Data Science, or related fields
- Proven track record of defining and driving data strategy across multiple teams
- Experience designing experimentation frameworks and measurement strategies for complex, multi-variant systems
- Deep expertise in SQL and proficiency in Python
- Strong ability to translate ambiguous business problems into structured analytical approaches
- Experience building and scaling data products, including metrics frameworks, pipelines, and dashboards
- Demonstrated influence and collaboration skills across engineering, product, and business teams
- Excellent communication skills to articulate findings to senior stakeholders
- Preferred: Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or a related technical field
- Preferred: Experience in risk, trust & safety, or fintech domains
- Preferred: Familiarity with causal inference and A/B testing in constrained environments
Responsibilities
- Define and maintain key risk metrics, ensuring their accuracy, trustworthiness, and visibility to stakeholders
- Design and implement data pipelines, dashboards, and data products that serve as operational infrastructure for risk decisioning
- Establish and evolve Stripe’s risk experimentation framework, including testing protocols and measurement strategies
- Partner with cross-functional teams to align data initiatives with product roadmaps and business objectives
- Build and maintain scalable data infrastructure that adapts as data and product landscapes evolve
- Monitor data quality, set ownership, and implement alerts for regressions or anomalies
- Mentor and guide junior and senior data analysts, setting technical and strategic standards
- Communicate complex analytical insights effectively to executive leadership and stakeholders
- Influence and collaborate across teams to foster a data-driven culture within risk management
