About The Role
The Principal Data Analyst - Revenue Cycle is a senior-level analytical professional responsible for designing, implementing, and managing complex data analysis initiatives that directly support revenue cycle performance and organizational financial objectives. This remote position offers flexibility and is open to candidates residing within 65 miles of specific locations including Anchorage, Renton, Portland, Irvine, Lubbock, and Hobbs. The role requires balancing multiple stakeholder requests in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the delivery of accurate, consistent, and actionable analytical insights. The Principal Data Analyst will work closely with finance, revenue cycle, and operational teams to develop advanced data models, dashboards, and reports that inform strategic decision-making and process improvements. This position plays a critical role in translating complex data into clear insights, supporting budgeting, forecasting, payer performance analysis, and root cause investigations of revenue cycle issues. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert in revenue cycle data, ensuring adherence to data governance standards and organizational policies, while mentoring junior analysts and fostering best practices in analytics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, or equivalent education/experience
- Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or analytics roles involving large and complex data sets
- At least 4 years of demonstrated proficiency in SQL, including advanced query development, data modeling, and performance optimization within large relational databases
- Strong skills in MS Office, particularly Excel, with a minimum of 5 years of experience
- At least 2 years of experience working with Epic systems, including Epic Clarity, and the ability to extract, interpret, and analyze data from Epic revenue cycle modules
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage complex data analysis projects that support revenue cycle performance and financial outcomes
- Integrate, prepare, and validate large data sets from multiple internal and external sources to ensure data accuracy and readiness for analysis
- Develop advanced SQL queries, data models, and analytical processes to identify trends, operational bottlenecks, and financial opportunities within the revenue cycle
- Create dashboards, visualizations, and reporting solutions using tools such as Tableau or Power BI to enhance visibility into revenue cycle metrics
- Conduct in-depth analysis of key revenue cycle domains including patient access, charge capture, coding, billing, denials, and accounts receivable
- Translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights and develop executive-level presentations for leadership teams
- Prioritize multiple concurrent requests from diverse stakeholders, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality outputs
- Partner with finance teams to support budgeting, forecasting, payer performance analysis, and rate-setting activities
- Collaborate with operational stakeholders to identify root causes of performance issues and recommend data-driven improvements
- Develop standardized reporting tools and analytical frameworks to improve transparency and understanding of revenue cycle metrics
- Serve as a subject matter expert on revenue cycle data, definitions, and performance indicators, ensuring consistency across departments
- Provide consultation on data requirements, analytical approaches, and interpretation of results to internal and external partners
- Ensure compliance with data governance standards, privacy regulations, and organizational policies when handling data
- Mentor junior analysts and contribute to the development of best practices, documentation, and knowledge sharing initiatives
