About The Role
The Senior DevOps Engineer at Optum Tech is a vital role responsible for supporting and operating cloud-based AI and data platforms with a focus on ensuring reliability, scalability, and security. This position emphasizes cloud infrastructure management, DevOps practices, and operational support for AI/ML workloads, including AIOps, MLOps, and LLMOps capabilities. The role involves collaborating closely with engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues in production environments, ensuring seamless deployment and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and supporting infrastructure that powers innovative healthcare solutions. Flexibility to work remotely within the U.S. is provided, with specific in-office requirements for Minneapolis and Washington, D.C. based employees.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of hands-on experience supporting cloud-based infrastructure in production environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- 5+ years of experience applying DevOps practices including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and deployment automation in enterprise systems
- Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts such as VNETs, Subnets, Load Balancers, and Security Groups
- Experience supporting AI/ML workloads in production, with exposure to AIOps, MLOps, or LLMOps use cases
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) development using Terraform
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve production incidents, including root cause analysis for cloud applications and services
- Experience remediating cloud security issues or vulnerabilities in collaboration with engineering or security teams
- Python development experience used for automation, tooling, or operational support (scripts, pipelines, monitoring utilities)
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support cloud-based infrastructure for AI, data, and application platforms
- Provide DevOps and AIOps support for production AI/ML and data applications, ensuring high availability and performance
- Support MLOps and LLMOps practices, including deployment, monitoring, and operational troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot and resolve cloud application issues and vulnerabilities to maintain platform stability and security
- Collaborate with engineering teams to support application deployments and ensure operational readiness
- Contribute hands-on to cloud development and automation efforts to streamline workflows
- Leverage enterprise-approved AI tools to automate tasks, improve workflows, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
