About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated UX Designer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will employ user-centered design principles to complete the end-to-end design process, focusing on creating wireframes and prototypes within a cohesive design system. Your responsibilities will include performing usability testing and accessibility audits to ensure our products meet user needs and adhere to compliance standards. As part of our federal consulting organization, you may handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and will be expected to follow applicable safeguarding and compliance protocols. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in UX design, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively within agile teams to deliver intuitive, accessible, and impactful user experiences.
Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of applicable UX design experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Computer Science, or a related field; or 3 additional years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in UX design tools such as Figma (preferred), Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar platforms
  • Hands-on experience creating wireframes, prototypes, and maintaining design systems
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design (UCD) processes, including discovery, definition, ideation, prototyping, and validation
  • Expertise in accessibility standards, including Section 508 compliance and WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines, with experience conducting accessibility audits
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Angular, and Bootstrap for design implementation
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including developers, architects, and federal stakeholders
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies (SCRUM, SAFe) and tools like Jira and Confluence
  • Ability to create comprehensive design documentation and maintain design system libraries

Responsibilities

  • Conduct user research through interviews, surveys, and data analysis to gather insights from end-users, stakeholders, and existing data sets
  • Identify opportunities, requirements, and constraints to inform effective design decisions following a user-centered approach
  • Create wireframes, storyboards, process flows, and interactive prototypes to visualize application and system features
  • Coordinate, define, and maintain design system components, libraries, utilities, and patterns to ensure consistency across projects
  • Implement shared UX templates and global components to promote uniformity in user experience
  • Collaborate closely with SCRUM teams, federal Product Owners, developers, and stakeholders to ideate, refine, and iterate on design solutions
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to support iterative development
  • Perform usability testing, accessibility audits, and validation sessions to evaluate and improve designs based on user feedback
  • Ensure all deliverables comply with Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA standards for accessible and inclusive user experiences
  • Maintain thorough documentation, demos, and updates to the Design System website and Figma toolkit library
  • Advise teams on best practices for utilizing design system components and enterprise features
  • Support cross-functional agile development efforts within a SAFe framework, contributing to program increments and roadmaps
  • Mentor SCRUM teams on UX principles, promote user-centered design practices, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in DesignOps processes
