Role summary

Tecovas, a brand revolutionizing western wear, seeks an Assistant Designer, Accessories in Austin, TX. Reporting to the Design Director, you will support the design process for bags, belts, small leather goods, and gifting. Responsibilities include trend research, concept development, creating sketches and technical drawings, maintaining design files, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring sample accuracy. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Design or equivalent experience, strong hand-sketching skills, proficiency in Adobe Illustrator for technical drawings and CADs, and experience with technical packs. Familiarity with PLM systems and accessories design is a plus. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative spirit.

Tecovas is looking for an Assistant Designer, Accessories. Reporting directly to the Design Director, you will support the creative design process across multiple accessories categories, including bags, belts, small leather goods, and gifting. You will assist in researching trends, exploring new design concepts, and creating sketches and technical drawings, while playing a role in shaping Tecovas’ distinctive aesthetic through thoughtful design, creativity, and craftsmanship.

This role is based in Austin, TX. Candidates must live in or be willing to relocate to Austin, TX.

What you’ll do:

  • Support the design team in translating seasonal direction and market research into new and relevant concepts.
  • Support the design and development of accessories across multiple categories, including bags, belts, wallets, small leather goods, hats, and gifting.
  • Create and update technical drawings, product specifications, and design files to ensure accurate communication with manufacturers as well as PLM uploads
  • Maintain organized design files, product documentation, and sample records.
  • Collaborate with the design, product development, and merchandising teams to meet seasonal deadlines and deliver high-quality products.
  • Partner with product development to ensure all accessories samples are accurate upon arrival and help make necessary callouts.
  • Organize inspiration samples and prototypes to support the design process.
  • Travel internationally to factories and tradeshows as needed

    • Experience we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design or equivalent design experience.
  • Strong hand-sketching skills and proficiency in Adobe Illustrator for creating detailed technical drawings and CADs.
  • Ability to create and maintain accurate technical packs, including measurements, materials, construction details, and hardware specifications.
  • Familiarity with PLM systems is a plus
  • Bonus points for experience in accessories design and development, particularly bags, belts, and small leather goods.
