Role summary
The Hartford is seeking a Builders Risk Senior Underwriter to manage the sales and underwriting process, building strong relationships with agents and brokers. This role involves account stewardship, strategic planning, operational excellence, and identifying cross-sell/up-sell opportunities. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of P&C Commercial Carrier underwriting experience, strong analytical, communication, and relationship management skills, and a self-starter mentality. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement in several California and Colorado locations.

As a Builders Risk Underwriter, you will quarterback the sales and underwriting process by building exceptionally strong and lasting relationships with agents and brokers, ensuring that The Hartford is the carrier of choice. Success in this role will also entail effective account stewardship by managing the sales process from strategic planning to operational excellence and developing cross-sell and up-sell opportunities across the team.

Qualifications:
5 + years of P&C Commercial Carrier underwriting experience; Builders Risk Underwriting experience preferred
Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining solid relationships with all internal and external business partners
Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
An ability to think analytically about business problems, make recommendations and propose solutions.
High energy self-starter, who is resilient and has an entrepreneurial spirit
Demonstration of solid time, organizational, and desk management skills
Goal-oriented and delivers outcomes
Ability to challenge the status quo and compete to win
Superior technical knowledge and sound decision-making and analytical skills.
Ability to travel approximately 25% - 35%.
Position level and tier to be determined after careful review of selected candidate's qualifications and experience
Location:
This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office (Greenwood Village, CO; Los Angeles, CA; Brea, CA; San Francisco, CA; or Walnut Creek, CA) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$99,600 - $186,000The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
