Role summary

Tier One Technologies is seeking a Senior Java Developer for a 100% remote, contract-to-hire position supporting a US Government client. The role involves designing, developing, testing, and deploying Java applications using Spring Boot, building front-end applications with Angular, and optimizing RESTful APIs and microservices. Responsibilities include integrating with Oracle databases, deploying cloud-ready solutions on Microsoft Azure, participating in code reviews and technical discussions, and troubleshooting across the full stack. A degree in a related field and 8+ years of Java development experience are required, along with proficiency in Spring Boot, Angular, Oracle SQL, and Azure deployment. Familiarity with CI/CD, containerization, and messaging technologies is a plus. Candidates must be US Citizens and able to obtain a DoD Public Trust clearance.

Overview

Tier One Technologies is seeking a Senior Java Developer to support our US Government client.
This will be a 100% remote Contract-to-Hire position.
Must be a US Citizen.
SELECTED CANDIDATES WITHOUT REQUIRED CLEARANCE WILL BE SUBJECT TO A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION TO RECEIVE IT.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and deploy Java-based applications using Spring Boot and related frameworks.
Develop and maintain modern, responsive front-end applications using Angular.
Build and optimize RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
Integrate applications with Oracle databases, ensuring efficient queries and performance.
Design and deploy cloud-ready solutions on Microsoft Azure.
Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design sessions.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the full stack (front-end, back-end, cloud).
Collaborate with QA, DevOps, UX, and product teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Qualifications

A degree from an accredited College/University in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related discipline.
8+ years of experience in Java development.
Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Data.
Experience developing front-end applications using Angular (v8+), including TypeScript, components, services, and reactive forms.
Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and responsive UI patterns.
Proficiency with Oracle SQL, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
Experience deploying and supporting applications on Azure.
Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development practices.
Solid understanding of REST APIs and microservices architecture.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or other containerization technologies is a PLUS.
Exposure to Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar DevOps pipelines is aa PLUS.
Experience with messaging technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ) is a PLUS.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
Must be a US Citizen (no dual citizenship).
Able to obtain DoD Public Trust clearance.
Must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last 5 years. Military Service excluded.
