Role summary
Torc is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to lead technical excellence for their Metrics for Release and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) groups, ensuring seamless integration within the self-driving product portfolio. The role involves architecting scalable platform systems for autonomous driving software validation, including distributed compute, telemetry pipelines, and downstream delivery. Responsibilities include integrating self-driving components for HiL deployment, maintaining requirements traceability, leveraging automated testing, and reporting system performance KPIs. The engineer will act as a subject matter expert, driving best practices and mentoring teams on systems design and requirements engineering. A Master's degree with 4 years of experience or a Bachelor's degree with 6 years of experience in a related systems engineering role is required, along with expertise in systems engineering tools (Jama, Cameo), HiL testing, data analysis, troubleshooting robotic systems, Python, C++, ROS, and CAN networking.
Job Duties: Lead and ensure the technical excellence of solutions delivered by the Metrics for Release and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) groups and guide their integration within Torc's self-driving product portfolio. Architect scalable platform systems for validating autonomous driving software, including orchestration of distributed compute workloads, telemetry pipelines, and results of delivery to downstream teams. Lead the integration of new and existing self-driving components and subsystems to enable the deployment of self-driving software onto Hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) benches. Maintain traceability between different levels of requirements and map them to verification tests throughout the product lifecycle. Leverage automated software testing pipelines and create requirements for new tools or automation to increase overall testing capabilities. Track and report system performance KPIs on a regular basis to provide insight into system performance to the rest of the organization. Operate as a recognized subject matter expert, driving alignment and influencing adoption of best practices, technology stacks, and standards beyond the immediate group. Mentor engineers across multiple teams on systems design, requirements engineering, and best practices.
