Engagement Lead
About Transformworks
Transformworks is an AI implementation partner to the world’s most ambitious investors and operators. We work with companies in critical, operationally complex industries, including healthcare, education, and financial services.
Our work includes:
Helping an education organization scale the development of high-quality curriculum across thousands of schools in the U.S.
Automating paperwork and documentation for a healthcare services company supporting more than 2 million patients, freeing its teams to spend more time helping the people they serve
We are profitable, growing quickly, and intentionally lean. We believe AI has fundamentally changed what one exceptional engineer with strong business judgment can accomplish, so we keep teams small, give people real ownership, and reward them based on the value they create.
The Role
As an Engagement Lead, you will be accountable for the success of our client engagements.
You will serve as the primary day-to-day partner to client executives and operators while leading a team of Forward Deployed AI Engineers through discovery, development, deployment, and adoption. You will determine what we should build, keep execution moving, and ensure the work produces a measurable business outcome.
The best way to think about this role is as a more technical and product-oriented version of an engagement manager. You will combine structured problem-solving, product judgment, program leadership, and client relationship management. You will not be expected to write production code, but you must be technically fluent enough to work closely with engineers, understand tradeoffs, and help shape effective AI products.
Your job is not simply to deliver the scope. It is to make the client successful, find ways to exceed expectations, and continually identify where else AI can create value across the business.
What You’ll Do
Own client engagements from initial discovery through deployment, adoption, and measurable business impact
Serve as the primary day-to-day partner to client executives, operators, and technical stakeholders
Learn how the client’s business actually works, including its workflows, systems, constraints, and economics
Translate ambiguous business problems into clear product requirements, user journeys, priorities, and success metrics
Partner with Forward Deployed AI Engineers to shape the solution and make thoughtful decisions about scope, sequencing, and tradeoffs
Run the execution rhythm across each engagement, including planning, client meetings, decision-making, risk management, and executive updates
Test solutions with end users, gather feedback, and ensure what we build is useful, trusted, and adopted
Create moments that exceed client expectations through proactive insights, rapid improvements, and thoughtful demonstrations of what is possible
Quantify the operational and financial impact of our work and communicate it clearly to company leadership and investment partners
Identify additional AI opportunities across the client’s business and help turn them into new initiatives
Develop reusable playbooks and practices that improve how Transformworks delivers future engagements
Step into whatever gaps need to be filled to keep the client and internal team moving
What We’re Looking For
4+ years of experience in management consulting, product management, enterprise implementation, client services, or a similarly demanding operating role
Experience leading complex, high-stakes projects with multiple stakeholders and an ambiguous path forward
Strong product judgment and the ability to distinguish an interesting idea from something users will adopt and a business will value
Structured problem-solving skills and the ability to turn a messy situation into a clear set of priorities and actions
Executive-level communication skills, both written and verbal
The confidence to challenge clients constructively, surface difficult issues, and be candid about tradeoffs
Enough technical fluency to understand system architecture, data flows, APIs, model behavior, and AI evaluation at a practical level
Strong commercial instincts and an ability to identify additional ways we can create value for a client
A high degree of ownership. You do not wait for someone else to resolve a problem that could affect the engagement
Comfort managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high bar for detail and follow-through
Genuine curiosity about how AI can change the way businesses operate
You do not need to be an engineer or an AI expert on day one. You do need to learn quickly, work naturally with technical teams, and be willing to develop a real understanding of the systems we build.
Experience in healthcare, education, financial services, private equity, or another regulated and operationally complex industry is a plus.
Growth at Transformworks
You will work directly with the founders and play an important role in shaping how Transformworks serves its clients.
As you grow, you will take ownership of larger client relationships, lead multiple engagement teams, help expand strategic accounts, and build the systems and team behind our deployment function. Because we are a small firm growing quickly, advancement is based on demonstrated impact rather than tenure.
Compensation and Benefits
Highly competitive base compensation
Uncapped profit-sharing tied to the performance of the team
Equity compensation
Health, dental, and vision coverage
Direct ownership of engagements with visible operational and financial impact
Exposure to senior executives, investors, and technical leaders across a range of industries
A small, high-trust team where initiative, judgment, and client impact are rewarded
