Biosafety Consulting Manager

Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking a Biosafety Consulting Manager.

We are hiring a Biosafety Consulting Manager to lead delivery of our biosafety work. You will spend most of your time in client labs, making containment calls, building and running IBC programs, and leading engagements from kickoff to close. You will mentor one or two consultants, work with our embedded teams and field sellers, and report to a Regional Consulting Leader.

Triumvirate Environmental provides leading organizations in the higher education, life sciences, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing sectors with diverse services and expertise to assist them with compliance management. At Triumvirate Environmental, we strive to WOW both our employees and our customers. Our unique culture fosters growth, development, education, and creativity.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead biosafety engagements on site, lab by lab: gap assessments, BSL-2 and ABSL-2 program builds, and risk assessments for viral vector and cell and gene therapy work.
  • Make and defend containment decisions using the NIH Guidelines and BMBL, and escalate novel agents and high-containment questions appropriately.
  • Stand up, administer, and improve Institutional Biosafety Committees, including charters, SOPs, protocol review, registration, and incident reporting.
  • Provide fractional Biosafety Officer coverage for client sites.
  • Scope engagements before pricing, manage budget, schedule, and change orders, and deliver clear, answer-first readouts.
  • Build the business case for clients, including cost avoidance and regulated medical waste savings, and turn one-time assessments into recurring programs.
  • Partner with our embedded EHS consultants, waste specialists, and sellers to spot and act on new client needs.
  • Mentor Biosafety Consultants and apply our biosafety house standard and peer review process to every deliverable.
  • Basic Requirements:

  • 6 or more years of progressive biosafety experience, including 3 or more in biotech, pharma, CDMO, or cell and gene therapy.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in biology, microbiology, biochemistry, public health, industrial hygiene, or a related science (Master’s or PhD preferred).
  • A record of building or running IBCs and BSL-2 or ABSL-2 programs, and of defending containment decisions to clients and regulators.
  • Comfort working in a billable consulting environment, with a client-first, hands-on approach.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation
  • Preferred Requirements:

  • RBP or CBSP (ABSA International). If you do not yet hold one, we will sponsor your preparation and expect you to earn it within 12 months.
  • BSL-3 experience or support of a CDC, USDA, or select agent inspection.
  • Consulting or fractional biosafety officer experience; cell and gene therapy or GMP exposure.
  • ABSA or affiliate (NEBSA, MABSA) involvement.
