Role summary
Uber's Infrastructure organization is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer for its Compute team to design and build the next version of its foundational compute platform. This role focuses on ensuring reliability and availability for a multi-cloud environment supporting all Uber product teams. The ideal candidate is a large-scale systems thinker proficient in Go, C/C++, or Java, with experience in building scalable, fault-tolerant platforms and leading engineering projects. Responsibilities include system design, technical mentorship, code reviews, and contributing to open-source Linux. Preferred qualifications include experience with Linux internals, container orchestration, and major cloud providers.
Leading at Uber’s Infrastructure organization means relentlessly raising the bar for reliability and availability, while designing a truly cloud native platform that seamlessly runs on multiple cloud providers. We are the Compute team at Uber, and are looking for a strong engineer to come shape the next version of our Compute platform. We own the foundational compute systems used by every product team at Uber - from control plane services such as node health monitoring to leveraging the latest kernel features to deliver graceful degradation at high utilization. Our company mission is to make transportation as reliable as running water, and we need technical powerhouses to build the dependable, high-performance foundation that supports that vision.
