Role summary

A concrete laboratory and QC team supporting precast and prestressed products for infrastructure projects in New England is seeking a Quality Control Lab Technician. This role involves sampling and testing raw materials, performing fresh concrete tests, casting and testing specimens, assisting with mix-design development, and performing QC testing on products. The position offers a clear career path with training and ACI certification support, advanced lab capabilities, and stable, year-round work within a collaborative team. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently are required.

Join our in-house concrete laboratory and QC team supporting precast and prestressed products for DOT, marine, port, and infrastructure projects across New England. This is more than a testing job—our lab does mix-design development, surface resistivity and permeability testing, and temperature-matched curing that most concrete labs never touch.

If you have a strong interest in concrete technology and want to grow, this role offers a defined path from Technician → Senior Technician → QC Specialist, with training and ACI certification support along the way.

Why Join Us

  • Clear career progression with hands-on training and paid ACI certifications
  • Advanced lab: mix design, durability testing, temperature-matched curing, applied R&D
  • High-profile DOT and marine projects
  • Stable, year-round work with a collaborative QC, production, and engineering team
  • [Benefits: health/dental/vision, 401(k) match, PTO, paid holidays]

What You'll Do

  • Sample and test raw materials (cement, aggregates, water, admixtures) for spec compliance
  • Perform fresh concrete testing—slump, air, temperature, unit weight—per ASTM, ACI, and DOT requirements
  • Cast, cure, and compression-test cylinders and other specimens
  • Assist with mix-design development, optimization, and troubleshooting
  • Perform QC testing on precast and prestressed products
  • Maintain accurate test records and QC documentation
  • Review test data to spot trends or quality issues and report to QC management
  • Help investigate nonconformances and corrective actions
  • Maintain and calibrate lab equipment; keep a clean, safe lab
  • Participate in R&D of new materials, mix designs, and QC methods

Career Path

QC Technician → materials and fresh concrete testing, strength testing, documentation Senior QC Technician → mix-design trials, durability testing, data analysis, mentoring QC Specialist → mix-design development, nonconformance investigations, spec review, R&D
