Role summary
Seeking an Avionics Test Manager to lead and contribute to the design, development, integration, and maintenance of Special Test Equipment (STE) and Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) for advanced aerospace and defense avionics. This hybrid role requires approximately 50% hands-on engineering (designing electronics, fixtures, troubleshooting) and 50% leadership (mentoring a small team, managing priorities, driving test strategy). The ideal candidate is a strong individual contributor with leadership potential, comfortable with both technical problem-solving and team building. Requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or related field, 6 years of experience in electrical test equipment development, and 1-3 years in a leadership capacity. Experience with mixed-signal circuits, instrumentation integration, and communication interfaces is essential. Aerospace/defense experience is desirable.
The future of aerospace and defense starts here.
Ursa Major was founded to revolutionize how America and its allies access and apply high-performance propulsion, from hypersonics to solid rocket motors, satellite maneuvering and launch. We design and deliver propulsion and defense systems that solve the most urgent and critical national security demands.
Our products and technologies require an extraordinary team. A team that will mold tomorrow’s technologies while deploying today’s best. We are an intrinsically motivated team that has a passion for solving problems and empowering each other every day to develop our skills, knowing that there is always room for growth.
Mission-critical avionics require equally capable test systems to verify performance, reliability, and production readiness. The Avionics Test Manager leads and contributes directly to the design, development, integration, and maintenance of Special Test Equipment (STE) and Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) used to develop, qualify, and produce advanced aerospace and defense avionics.
This role includes both technical and managerial responsibilities. Approximately half of your time will be spent as a hands-on senior test engineer—designing interface electronics, fixtures, and test architectures, troubleshooting complex issues, and participating in design reviews. The other half will focus on leading a small test engineering team, managing priorities and schedules, coordinating across programs, and driving test strategy and process improvements.
The ideal candidate is a strong individual contributor who has grown into leadership, and enjoys both solving detailed technical problems and building a high-performing team and test capability.
