You will translate security and compliance requirements into technical implementations, build automation and scripts to address gaps in tooling, and conduct root-cause analysis for complex endpoint issues. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in endpoint engineering or similar technical roles, strong macOS and Windows administration skills, hands-on experience with enterprise MDM platforms like Microsoft Intune, and proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
Vannevar builds AI systems for the Department of War's most consequential missions. We have 125 deployments across every branch and combatant command spanning our core platform and five distinct products. An an example of how we work, when major combat operations started with Iran, we fielded a new product supporting 24/7 operations and 9,000+ users in three months. How we build is our advantage: we deploy forward with the people who own the mission. Our engineers, product team, and CTO deploy forward to the point of friction, including visiting units in Ukraine. We focus on embedding directly with operational units supporting great power competition with China, combat operations with Iran, and counter-narcotics missions.
About the role
We are looking for an IT Endpoint Engineer to own the technical health and continued development of our corporate endpoint environment across macOS, Windows, and iOS.
You’ll be responsible for the systems and automation that keep our device fleet secure, reliable, compliant, and manageable at scale, including MDM, patching, vulnerability remediation, configuration management, endpoint health monitoring, and device lifecycle management.
You’ll partner closely with Security to translate requirements such as CIS Benchmarks and NIST 800-171 controls into practical technical implementations. Where off-the-shelf management tooling falls short, you’ll build scripts and automation to deploy controls, detect configuration drift, remediate issues, and make endpoint state observable.
This is an engineering-oriented IT role. We’re looking for someone who can go deep on difficult endpoint problems, automate away repetitive administration, and improve the underlying systems rather than relying on manual processes.
