Role summary
Seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead the manufacturing strategy for superconductor power terminations. This role involves identifying and managing contract manufacturers, optimizing designs for manufacturability (DFM/DFA), and establishing robust quality and test infrastructure. Responsibilities include defining inspection plans, developing test protocols for high-power assemblies, leading pilot builds, driving continuous improvement, and managing supplier relationships. The ideal candidate has 7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with a strong background in electromechanical or high-power assemblies and contract manufacturing management. A Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field or equivalent experience is required.
WHY VEIR?
Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Woburn, Massachusetts, VEIR is a U.S.-based designer and manufacturer of category-defining superconducting power delivery systems built for the extreme energy demands of the AI era. By commercializing next-generation superconducting technology into deployable, real-world systems, VEIR delivers ~10× higher power density than conventional options, enabling “speed-to-power” where incremental optimization falls short. VEIR’s initial focus is AI data centers behind the meter, with solutions engineered for repeatable deployment through reference designs and integrated controls, designed to incorporate learnings as deployments scale.
The RoleWe are seeking a Lead Manufacturing Engineer to own the manufacturing strategy for our termination assembly, a first-of-a-kind, high-power, cryogenic component that is critical to our system. You will work side by side with our design engineers while the design is still evolving: shaping it for quality and manufacturability, developing the assembly process, and creating the tooling that makes it fast and reliable to install in the field. You will also identify and develop a contract manufacturing (CM) partner and build the quality and test infrastructure needed to scale from pilot builds to full production.
This is a hands-on, high-visibility role for someone who thrives at the intersection of design engineering, supplier development, and quality systems. You have helped take at least one first-of-a-kind product from early design into production, and you have a strong track record in contract manufacturing for high-power electrical or electromechanical assemblies. This role is about building new processes alongside a new design, not optimizing a mature production line.
Field installation time is one of the metrics that matter most to our customers and to VEIR's success. The tooling and processes you develop will have a direct impact on it.
