Role summary

Lovejoy Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care is seeking a part-time Associate Veterinarian for weekend shifts in Boston, MA. This role involves providing comprehensive general practice and urgent care services for companion animals. The position offers flexible scheduling, no on-call duties, and a supportive team environment with a 2.5-to-1 staff-to-doctor ratio. Responsibilities include managing a varied caseload, from routine wellness and diagnostics to urgent cases, ensuring high-quality patient care and collaborative teamwork. A DVM or VMD degree and an active Massachusetts veterinary license are required. Experience with urgent care triage is preferred.

General practice and urgent care under one roof. You will see a dynamic, varied caseload spanning routine wellness, diagnostics, dentistry, and same-day urgent cases—keeping your clinical skills sharp while making a real difference for the Boston community we serve.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or VMD degree from an accredited institution
  • Active veterinary license in good standing in the state of Massachusetts prior to start date
  • Comfort triaging and managing urgent care cases preferred but not required
  • Commitment to collaborative teamwork and high-quality patient care
