Caring Hands Animal Hospital in Merrifield is seeking a full-time or part-time Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and vet techs in providing high-quality animal care. Responsibilities include assisting with examinations, treatments, and surgeries, handling animals, preparing rooms, performing basic lab tests, administering medications, feeding, bathing, exercising animals, maintaining medical records, communicating with pet owners, and ensuring a clean and sanitary clinic environment. Requires at least 1 year of veterinary experience, technical knowledge in disinfection, medication administration, and diagnostic equipment, and the physical ability to handle animals compassionately. Caring Hands Animal Hospital in Merrifield is hiring a full-time and part-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside our team of experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and devoted support staff to ensure each animal receives the best possible care during their stay with us.     • Salary: $20 - $25 per hour, based on the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.

    Schedule: Full time and part time hours available. Monday through Friday, shifts starting as early as 7:00 AM and ending as late as 8:30 PM. Rotating Saturday shifts are also required every other weekend, from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians and vet techs during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
  • Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
  • Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces
  • Perform basic laboratory tests, such as collecting blood, urine, and stool samples
  • Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian
  • Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed
  • Maintain accurate medical records
  • Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits
  • Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment

    • Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of veterinary experience is required.
  • Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
  • Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
