About Virtualitics

Virtualitics is the category leader in AI-native readiness applications for defense, government, and critical infrastructure. Founded on a decade of Caltech research in partnership with NASA/JPL, we are led by scientists, strategists, and servicemembers united by a single mission: to solve the world’s most complex, mission-critical challenges with AI.

Our Readiness AI solutions deliver operational certainty — giving leaders and operators a clear picture of what’s ready, what’s at risk, and what to do next. By identifying risks early, diagnosing root causes, and recommending prioritized actions with transparent, explainable AI, we help organizations move from data complexity to decision advantage.

Behind that impact is relentless innovation. Inventors at heart, we hold 15+ U.S. patents and are leading the shift toward agent-driven readiness. But what truly sets us apart is our culture — relentless about results, grounded in transparency, and driven by compassion for the mission and the people it serves.

If you’re motivated by impact, inspired by technical depth, and ready to build AI that performs where it matters most — you’ll find your mission here.

What you will be doing

  • Design chat-first, agent-driven experiences within established patterns, including how a given insight is presented conversationally and how a user moves from a question to a decision.

  • Build with our design system and component library and flag gaps and inconsistencies as you hit them.

  • Partner with Product Managers to turn well-scoped problems into clear flows, states, and high-quality interfaces.

  • Build prototypes in Figma or AI tools to test design rationale, producing the screens, states, and complex components that support it.

  • Participate in UX reviews of features, agent responses, generated UI, and layouts before they ship.

  • Present your work and your reasoning to designers, PMs, and engineers, and iterate quickly on what comes back.

What we are looking for

  • 1-4 years of product design experience.

  • Proficiency in Figma, creating well-documented designs and prototypes.

  • Viewable portfolio showing 1-3 case studies or completed projects highlighting your contributions.

  • Strong eye for visual design, interaction, and user experience highlighting thoughtful hierarchy, spacing, states, and the details most people skip.

  • Solid UX, UI, and accessibility fundamentals.

  • Fluency operating within design standards and design systems.

  • Ability to clearly communicate, explain, and defend design decisions.

  • Willingness to reflect on past projects and identify how you would improve them.

  • Receptiveness to feedback and new ideas.

  • What are our preferred requirements

  • Experience designing data-dense, analytical, or enterprise software interfaces.

  • Exposure to AI or LLM-powered products, conversational UI, or agentic workflows.

  • Comfort using AI tools such as Claude and Figma Make as part of your everyday design and prototyping practice.

  • Working knowledge of front-end concepts such as components, tokens, states, and responsive behavior, sufficient to collaborate credibly with engineers.

  • Interest in working on defense and government-related projects.

  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

  • What are some valued skills

  • Design system contribution and documentation.

  • Understanding of interaction and motion design for conversational interfaces.

  • Comprehension of information architecture and user flow mapping.

  • Knowledge of accessibility (WCAG) fundamentals.

  • Prototyping in code or with AI tooling.

  • Clear written communication and design documentation.

  • What we offer you

At Virtualitics, you’ll join a high-performance team of scientists, strategists, and servicemembers building AI that operates in the world’s most demanding environments. The problems we solve matter — and so does the opportunity to grow while solving them.

You’ll have meaningful ownership from day one, with the ability to accelerate your career alongside a company scaling rapidly in national security and critical infrastructure.

We offer highly competitive compensation, meaningful equity participation, and fully paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents. Our benefits also include unlimited PTO and flexible work arrangements, with remote flexibility and hybrid options for team members based in the Los Angeles or Washington, DC areas.
