DevOps Engineer
Role summary
Werner Enterprises is seeking a Software Engineer to lead digital transformation initiatives. This role involves leveraging cloud computing technologies to build modern software systems. Responsibilities include analyzing information needs, collaborating cross-functionally to design solutions, developing and implementing software, researching production issues, and mentoring junior developers. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience, with at least 7 years of professional software development experience. Experience in modern software development practices and agile/SAFe environments is required. This is a full-time position eligible for comprehensive benefits.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Analyze information needs, conferring with users, studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally within the organization to design solutions for complex business problems.
- Develop information systems by designing, developing, testing and implementing software solutions.
- Document and demonstrate solutions by developing flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, and presentations.
- Research and resolve production support issues as they occur.
- Collaborate with team members for recommendations on process improvement.
- Mentor less experienced developers in best practices, troubleshooting techniques, and development patterns.
- Accomplish engineering and organization goals by completing related tasks as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent education experience.
- 7+ years of professional software development experience.
- Extensive experience in modern software development practices to draw upon for solving complex problems.
- Experience and ability to work in an agile/SAFe environment.
