Role summary
Wolfram Manufacturing is seeking an observant and analytical Manufacturing Specialist to monitor and manage a cell of automated CNC machines. This role involves active quality assurance, machine triage, making precise adjustments to keep parts in spec, and performing delicate finishing and deburring. The specialist will be the first responder to machine halts and alarms, investigating issues like tool wear and analyzing machine data. Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential. Experience with CNC machining or a strong transferable mechanical background is preferred.
Benefits:
What You Will Do:
- Health insurance
- Opportunity for advancement
- Paid time off
- Parental leave
- Profit sharing
- Vision insurance
- 401(k) matching
- Dental insurance
What You Will Do:
- Active Quality Assurance: Inspect parts looking for bad indicators rather than just certifying good ones. In addition to measuring parts, you will use visual cues, like changes in tool path finishes, to catch errors early.
- Machine Triage: Monitor a dozen+ automated CNC machines. When a machine stops or throws a horsepower TMAC alarm, you diagnose the tool and part condition, check fluids, and analyze the charts.
- Make Comps: Make small, precise adjustments (comps) to current programs to keep parts in spec.
- Deburring & Finishing: Perform delicate part finishing and deburring (required before full inspection).
- Prioritization: Logically manage your time when multiple machines need attention. Know exactly when to put a machine on "hold" and escalate to support rather than wasting time/material or risking damage to a machine.
- Must be comfortable on your feet for 9-hour shifts.
- Requires steady hands, manual dexterity, and excellent eyesight for deburring and visual QA.
- Occasional lifting of up to 45 lbs.
- 1–3 years of CNC or machine operator experience preferred; strong transferable mechanical or technical background will be considered
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and comfort with hands-on, physical work
- Ability to read and interpret basic measurements and inspection data
- Strong attention to detail and pattern recognition
- Morning shift 5am - 2pm
- Night shift 2pm - 11pm
- Set days somewhat flexible
- Ideally looking for someone who can work Saturday and/or Sunday in the future.
