Role summary
The Supercompute Observability Software team is seeking a Software Engineer to build and operate software systems and platforms for large-scale AI training and inference supercompute centers. Responsibilities include designing and implementing multi-service production systems, predictive analytics tools, and frontend visualizations to ensure reliability, monitor uptime, and provide real-time operational insights. The role requires programming experience in languages like Python, Rust, C++, or Java, and familiarity with database management systems. Preferred qualifications include experience with large-scale observability systems, time-series databases, frontend frameworks like React, cloud infrastructure (Docker/Kubernetes), CI/CD, HPC environments, and industrial IoT data sources. This is an onsite role requiring potential travel to supercompute centers.
SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today, SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of making life multiplanetary and expanding consciousness to the stars.SpaceXSI is building Super Intelligence to help humanity understand the universe. Our teams are building the full Super Intelligence stack: from our Colossus supercomputers, to Grok models, to our suite of applications, including Grok Bot, Grok Build, Grok Imagine, Grok Voice, and X. We're creating a powerful flywheel where more compute trains better models, better models power more useful products, and what we learn from people using those products shapes what we build next.
SOFTWARE ENGINEER, OBSERVABILITY (SUPERCOMPUTE)
The Supercompute Observability Software team owns keeping our supercompute centers running reliably at the unprecedented scale required for frontier AI training and inference by building software systems and platforms to automatically predict, monitor, and rapidly respond to changing operational conditions and incidents. Our clusters are large, heterogeneous, and always on - the team makes them observable and keeps them running: we build the infrastructure that lets engineers and technicians expedite and automate their day to day, speeding node remediation and increasing overall GPU uptime. The team partners closely with datacenter operations, AI research, and facility infrastructure teams to deliver high-impact tools that turn raw operational data into clear insight and action, ensuring true site-wide reliability and automated operation.
