Role summary

Zoox is looking for a Test Infrastructure Engineer to develop test infrastructure for autonomous vehicle manufacturing. This role involves designing and implementing databases, REST APIs, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and tester orchestration. The engineer will also collaborate with manufacturing, hardware, and software teams, contribute to test frameworks, design server infrastructure, develop applications and code libraries, and build dashboards for manufacturing data and metrics. A strong background in Python, cloud technologies like Kubernetes and Terraform, and Linux administration is required.

Zoox is seeking a talented Test Infrastructure Engineer to lead the development of test infrastructure that supports manufacturing tests for our autonomous vehicles. In this role, you will drive the design and development of major infrastructure and platform components such as databases, REST APIs, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and tester orchestration. You will also collaborate closely across the manufacturing, hardware, and software teams.

In this role, you will:

  • Contribute to the development of test frameworks to support all factory testing at Zoox manufacturing sites

  • Design and implement server infrastructure to support manufacturing test activities

  • Develop applications to support manufacturing processes and common code libraries for test engineers

  • Design and build dashboards for manufacturing data, including metrics such as throughput and tester utilization

    • Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; MS preferred

  • 6+ years of industry experience with software development focused on on-prem or cloud infrastructure

  • Exposure to software technologies used in manufacturing systems, such as MRP, MES, MQTT, SCADA systems, and IoT devices

  • Experience with cloud deployment and infrastructure technologies, such as Kubernetes, Terraform, and AWS

  • Deep background in Python programming (scripting, web services, tool development, and test frameworks). Working knowledge of Pytest required.

  • Experience building dashboards and alerting systems for monitoring systems to monitor infrastructure health

  • Knowledge of git and CI/CD pipelines, reproducible builds, deployment strategies, and supporting infrastructure

  • Experience with Linux system administration and server management

    • Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience with server fleet management technologies, such as Salt, Ansible, Puppeteer, or Slurm

  • Experience with system design, including databases, web servers, and containerization (e.g., Docker)

  • Experience deploying applications to cloud environments (AWS) and on-prem/bare-metal servers

  • Familiarity with Prometheus and Grafana’s metrics, dashboarding, and logging ecosystem (aka the LGTM stack)
