About The Role
The Staff iOS Engineer role at Capital One Canada offers an exciting opportunity to lead and influence the development of cutting-edge mobile applications. In this position, you will be responsible for motivating, managing, and inspiring a team of software engineers to deliver innovative products that enhance customer experience. Your leadership will be pivotal in driving the development of features such as Credit Keeper, Personal Information management, and Quick Check, which empower customers to take control of their credit profiles and financial health.
This role involves working within a dynamic, agile mobile team throughout the entire software development lifecycle. Capital One’s commitment to cloud technology, open source frameworks, RESTful APIs, microservices, and containers ensures that you will be at the forefront of modern software engineering practices. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in any field, coupled with extensive hands-on experience in native iOS application development. A minimum of six years of experience working with Swift and SwiftUI is required, along with a strong background in application design, technical architecture, and full-cycle development. Proven experience in leading and mentoring junior and intermediate associates, as well as guiding technical and business stakeholders, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of software engineering principles and a passion for creating scalable, reliable mobile solutions.
Additional qualifications include excellent communication skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the delivery of major components and platform needs in partnership with senior engineers and architects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Work collaboratively within a dynamic mobile team throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle, from planning and design to implementation and support.
  • Improve software engineering practices by designing, developing, testing, and deploying technical solutions using a full stack of development tools and technologies.
  • Contribute expertise on how evolving technologies impact the domain, and incorporate best practices to enhance product quality and performance.
  • Mentor and guide junior, intermediate, and senior mobile associates, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
