About The Role
As a Staff Android Engineer at Capital One Canada, you will play a pivotal role in leading the technical development and architecture of our mobile applications. This role does not involve direct reports but requires advanced hands-on development, technical design, and architectural expertise. You will be responsible for motivating and inspiring a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and excellence. Your work will directly influence the development of cutting-edge products that help Canadians take control of their credit and financial health.

Some of our key initiatives include Credit Keeper, which allows customers to view and monitor their credit scores; enabling users to view and edit their personal information directly within the mobile app; and Quick Check, providing customers with certainty about credit card approval before applying. Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience developing native Android applications using Java and Kotlin.
- Extensive experience in application and data design, architecture, and development.
- Proficiency with RxJava, Coroutines, Dagger, Espresso, JUnit, and Jenkins.
- Proven track record of mentoring junior and intermediate developers and providing technical guidance to stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical design, architecture, and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
- Collaborate within a dynamic mobile development team throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle, from planning to deployment and maintenance.
- Enhance software engineering practices by working within agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across various development tools and technologies.
- Contribute expertise on how emerging technologies impact the domain, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Mentor and guide junior, intermediate, and senior mobile developers, fostering a culture of learning and technical excellence.
