About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Android Engineer to join our dynamic technology team in Toronto. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the development of innovative, cross-platform mobile applications that enhance our customers' experience. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable, reliable, and high-performance Android applications, utilizing your extensive expertise in native Android development with Java and Kotlin. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver cutting-edge features and solutions that align with our strategic goals. This position does not involve direct reports; instead, it emphasizes advanced hands-on development, technical design, and architecture leadership to drive our mobile platform forward.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of six years of experience in native Android application development using Java and Kotlin, with a strong background in application and data architecture. You should have extensive experience with modern development tools and frameworks such as RxJava, Coroutines, Dagger, Espresso, JUnit, and Jenkins. Demonstrated expertise in designing scalable, maintainable, and efficient code is essential. Additionally, you should have a proven track record of mentoring junior and intermediate developers, providing guidance on technical best practices, and collaborating effectively with stakeholders. A bachelor’s, master’s, or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS and familiarity with agile methodologies are preferred.
Responsibilities

• Own the technical design, architecture, and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems to ensure robustness and scalability.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other developers throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to deliver high-quality mobile solutions.
• Implement best practices in software engineering, including code reviews, testing, and continuous integration, to maintain high standards of code quality and performance.
• Leverage your expertise to influence how emerging technologies can be integrated into our mobile platform, ensuring our solutions remain innovative and competitive.
• Mentor and guide junior, intermediate, and senior mobile developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
• Participate in technical discussions, provide solutions to complex problems, and contribute to architectural decisions that impact the mobile ecosystem.
