About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Android Engineer to join our dynamic software development team in Toronto, Ontario. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the technical design, architecture, and development of innovative Android applications that enhance our customer experience. You will motivate, manage, and inspire a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages technical excellence and continuous improvement. This position requires advanced hands-on development expertise, a deep understanding of mobile application architecture, and the ability to guide projects from conception through deployment.
As part of our team, you will be instrumental in delivering cutting-edge features such as credit score monitoring, personal information management, and pre-approval credit checks. You will work within an agile environment, utilizing modern technologies like microservices, RESTful APIs, and cloud platforms to build scalable, reliable, and user-friendly applications. Our focus is on rapid deployment and innovation, ensuring our customers receive timely and impactful digital experiences.
This role does not involve direct reports but emphasizes technical leadership, mentorship, and strategic contribution to our mobile development initiatives. Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience developing native Android applications using Java and Kotlin.
  • Extensive experience in application and data design, architecture, and full-cycle development.
  • Proficiency with RxJava, Coroutines, Dagger, Espresso, JUnit, and Jenkins for continuous integration and testing.
  • Proven ability to mentor junior and intermediate developers, providing guidance on best practices and technical solutions.
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical design, architecture, and development of cross-platform application systems that serve our customers effectively.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary mobile team throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle, from planning to deployment.
  • Enhance software engineering practices by working within agile teams to design, develop, test, and support technical solutions across various development tools and technologies.
  • Provide expertise on how emerging technologies impact domain-specific applications and recommend innovative solutions.
  • Mentor and guide junior, intermediate, and senior mobile developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
