About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Android Engineer to join our dynamic team located at 161 Bay Street, Toronto. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in leading the development of our Android applications, driving technical excellence, and inspiring our engineering team. You will be responsible for designing, architecting, and implementing innovative mobile solutions that enhance our customers' experience. This position does not involve direct reports but requires advanced hands-on development, technical design, and architecture expertise.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about mobile technology, possess strong leadership qualities, and have a proven track record of delivering high-quality Android applications. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop scalable, reliable, and user-centric products that align with our strategic objectives. Our team is committed to leveraging the latest cloud technologies, open-source tools, RESTful APIs, microservices, and containers to accelerate product delivery and improve customer engagement.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a minimum of six years of hands-on experience developing native Android applications using Java and Kotlin. They should possess extensive knowledge of application and data design, architecture, and development, with proficiency in tools and frameworks such as RxJava, Coroutines, Dagger, Espresso, JUnit, and Jenkins. A strong background in mentoring junior and intermediate developers, along with the ability to guide technical and business stakeholders, is essential.
Educationally, a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is required. The candidate should demonstrate a deep understanding of modern mobile development practices, cloud integration, and agile methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical design, architecture, and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems to ensure scalable and maintainable solutions.
- Collaborate with a dynamic mobile team throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle, from planning to deployment.
- Enhance software engineering practices by working within agile teams to design, develop, test, and support technical solutions using a full stack of development tools and technologies.
- Provide expertise on how emerging technologies impact the domain, and incorporate innovative solutions to improve product offerings.
- Mentor junior, intermediate, and senior mobile developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
