About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Android Engineer to join our dynamic software development team at our Toronto office located at 161 Bay Street. In this role, you will be instrumental in leading the design, development, and architecture of cutting-edge Android applications that enhance our customer experience. You will not have direct reports but will be expected to provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior and mid-level engineers. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects such as Credit Keeper, Quick Check, and other mobile solutions that empower our customers to take control of their credit and financial health.
You will be working within a fast-paced, agile environment, utilizing modern cloud technologies, microservices, RESTful APIs, and open-source tools. Your expertise will help shape our mobile platform, ensuring scalability, performance, and security. As part of our team, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and product managers to deliver high-quality, customer-focused solutions rapidly and efficiently. This role is ideal for a seasoned Android developer passionate about leveraging technology to create meaningful impact and improve lives.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience developing native Android applications using Java and Kotlin. You should have a solid understanding of application architecture, data design, and development processes. Proven experience with Android-specific frameworks and tools such as RxJava, Coroutines, Dagger, Espresso, JUnit, and Jenkins is essential. A strong background in mentoring junior team members and collaborating with technical and business stakeholders is also required. Candidates should hold a Bachelor's, Master's, or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Demonstrated expertise in designing scalable, high-performance mobile applications is vital for success in this role.
Responsibilities

  • Own the technical design, architecture, and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs.
  • Participate actively throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle, from planning and design to implementation, testing, and deployment.
  • Enhance software engineering practices within the team by advocating for agile methodologies, code reviews, and continuous integration and delivery.
  • Contribute expertise on how emerging technologies impact our domain, recommending innovative solutions to improve product performance and user experience.
  • Mentor and guide junior, intermediate, and senior mobile engineers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment.
