About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff iOS Engineer to join our dynamic software development team. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for motivating, managing, and inspiring a team of talented software engineers to deliver cutting-edge mobile applications and features. You will participate actively in hands-on development, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and innovative products that enhance our customers' financial experience. Your expertise will guide the team through the entire software development life cycle, from design to deployment, while fostering a culture of best practices and continuous learning.
At Capital One Canada, we are focused on creating impactful solutions that help our customers take control of their credit. Examples include Credit Keeper, which enables users to view and monitor their credit scores; features allowing customers to view and edit their personal information directly within the mobile app; and Quick Check, providing customers with pre-approval certainty for credit card applications. We leverage cloud technology, open source frameworks, RESTful APIs, microservices, and containers to develop and deploy our products rapidly, ensuring we stay at the forefront of innovation in digital banking.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in any field with extensive experience in mobile application development. Specific qualifications include:

  • Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience developing native iOS applications using Swift and SwiftUI
  • Proven expertise in application design, technical architecture, and full-cycle development
  • Experience leading and mentoring junior, intermediate, and senior developers
  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices within agile teams
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities
As a Staff iOS Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Owning and leading the delivery of major components and platform needs in partnership with senior engineers and architects
  • Participating actively throughout the Software Development Life Cycle, from planning to deployment
  • Driving improvements in software engineering practices by designing, developing, testing, and supporting technical solutions across a full stack of development tools and technologies
  • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate team members to foster growth and ensure quality standards
  • Contributing expertise on how evolving technologies impact the domain and recommending innovative solutions to enhance product offerings
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into scalable technical solutions
