Role summary

Alchemi is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Platform to join their small, senior engineering team in New York City. This role focuses on owning architecture and delivery for the core AI platform used in drug development. The ideal candidate possesses strong design judgment, a track record of building maintainable systems, and fluency in agentic development, with Python at the center. The role requires a blend of backend, frontend, and DevOps skills, emphasizing system design and reliability over lines of code. The role

We're a small, senior engineering team, and we plan to stay that way. Writing code is no longer the constraint. Judgement is. You'll own architecture and delivery across our core platform, and you'll be measured on the quality of the systems you design and the mistakes you prevent, not on lines of code.

Design judgement earned the hard way. You can explain why a design is wrong, not just that it feels wrong.
A track record of systems that stayed maintainable, not just shipped.
Fluency with agentic development: specs first, agents as a force multiplier, with a verification loop.
Range across backend, front-end and DevOps, with Python at the centre.
Low ego. You listen first and work toward consensus.
