Role summary

Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems (AES) is seeking a Vice President of Finance and Administration in Kirkland, WA. This executive role leads the Finance & Administration organization, reporting to the President and serving on the Senior Leadership Team. Responsibilities include directing financial strategy, planning, accounting, and reporting, while also overseeing administrative functions like IT, Legal, and Compliance coordination. The VP will drive operational excellence, build scalable systems, and sponsor enterprise transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate has 12+ years of financial management experience in a senior leadership role, strong technical accounting skills, strategic and analytical thinking, and proven team leadership abilities. Experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or regulated industries is preferred.

About the Role

Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems is seeking a Vice President of Finance and Administration to lead our Finance & Administration organization and serve as a core member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). This executive directs financial strategy, planning, accounting, and reporting while providing strategic guidance that shapes company-wide decisions. The role also oversees administrative functions — including coordination with IT and Compliance — and serves as executive sponsor for major cross-functional transformation initiatives.

This is a high-visibility position reporting to the President, with direct accountability for the company's financial health, controls, and operational scalability as part of Astronics Corporation.

What You'll Do

Financial Leadership

  • Develop and lead financial strategy in partnership with the executive team, shaping business decisions and long-term planning
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, FP&A, accounting, and financial reporting
  • Maintain robust financial controls in full compliance with accounting principles and legislation, ensuring alignment with Astronics Corporate Finance policies and public-company reporting standards
  • Provide decision support on margins, pricing/contract economics, working capital, cash flow, capital allocation, and risk tradeoffs
  • Present financial reports and projections to executive leadership with transparency and accuracy
  • Manage risk across the business, including financial, contractual, and regulatory domains, partnering with other functional areas as needed
  • Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and outside consultants as needed

    • People Leadership

  • Build and lead a high-performing Finance & Administration team, fostering collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement
  • Plan proactively for talent needs, develop team capabilities, and hold the organization accountable to clear performance expectations
  • Champion employee engagement and act with integrity as a steward of company resources and culture

    • Administration

  • Direct administrative functions — which may include IT, Legal, and Compliance coordination — to drive operational excellence and efficiency
  • Build scalable systems, processes, and governance to support organizational growth and profitability
  • Serve as executive sponsor for enterprise systems and process transformation initiatives, ensuring resource alignment, timely decisions, and sustained adoption of global standards

    • What We're Looking For

    Required

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field
  • 12+ years of financial management experience, with significant time in a senior leadership role
  • Strong technical accounting skills with deep knowledge of financial regulations and reporting requirements
  • Demonstrated strategic and analytical thinking, with a track record of driving business results through financial planning
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills across all levels of an organization
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment

    • Preferred

  • Master's degree or CPA
  • Experience overseeing Legal, IT and/or compliance functions
  • Experience leading or sponsoring large-scale systems or process transformation initiatives
  • Background in aerospace, manufacturing, or other regulated industries

    • Compensation & Benefits

    Base salary: $169,400 – $270,600/year (midpoint $220,000), based on experience, education, skills, and business needs, plus a competitive Quarterly Profit-Sharing Bonus.
