Role summary

Clear Street is seeking a Senior Product Designer with deep trading knowledge to build a new retail trading product, Clear Street Active. This role will own the core trading surfaces, including research, order entry, position management, and portfolio. The ideal candidate will have experience shipping retail trading products (equities, options, futures, crypto) and a strong understanding of trading mechanics. You will prototype using AI tooling within the real codebase, contribute to the design system, and actively participate in product decisions. Mobile design experience is essential. This is a high-autonomy role within a small, collaborative team.

Clear Street Active is a new retail trading product. Equities, options, futures, crypto, prediction markets. We're building it with a small team, and we need a product designer who knows trading well, not just the UX conventions but what traders actually care about and where existing tools fall short.

This role owns the core trading surfaces: research, order entry, position management, portfolio. You'll work directly with engineers and PMs, prototype in the real codebase, and be in the room when product decisions get made.

What you'll do

  • Own product design across the trading surfaces, from flow-level decisions down to the micro-interactions that matter when someone is mid-trade
  • Prototype in the real codebase using AI tooling. Figma alone isn't enough here.
  • Work within the design system as it gets built, and flag where it needs to grow
  • Be in the room when product decisions happen and have real opinions about them

    • What we're looking for

  • Has shipped retail trading products with real users: equities, options, futures, crypto, some meaningful combination. If you haven't designed for people making real trades with real money, this probably isn't the right fit.
  • Understands trading mechanics well enough to have strong opinions about where current products get it wrong
  • Strong craft and taste. The work should look considered.
  • Mobile is expected, not optional. This isn't a desktop-only product.
  • Can prototype in the real codebase using AI tooling. Not expected to write production code, but Figma alone isn't enough.
  • High autonomy. You'll set your own direction and course-correct when you're wrong.
  • No ego

    • Nice to have

  • Background at a consumer fintech with a strong design culture
  • Options or derivatives UX specifically
  • Has worked on or contributed to a design system

    • This is a small team. Everyone is building, giving feedback, and in the work together, not siloed by function.
