Role summary
Divergent is seeking an experienced Structural Analysis Engineer for its next-generation aerospace and automotive structures development using the Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS). This role involves advanced finite element analysis (FEA) and CAE methodologies to evaluate, optimize, and validate structural systems, collaborating closely with Design, Manufacturing, Test, and Product Engineering. Depending on experience, the position can be hired at Senior (E05), Lead (E06), or Principal (E07) Engineer levels, with higher levels requiring increased technical leadership, methodology definition, product strategy influence, and mentoring. Responsibilities include developing and validating FEA models for complex structures, performing various nonlinear analyses (crash, durability, thermal, etc.), validating results with calculations and testing, and developing recommendations balancing performance, manufacturability, cost, and weight. The role also involves partnering with other engineering disciplines, supporting the product development lifecycle, and presenting technical findings. Basic qualifications include a BS/MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, 5+ years of structural analysis experience, expert FEA software proficiency (Abaqus, LS-Dyna, Nastran, OptiStruct), and strong solid mechanics understanding. Preferred qualifications include aerospace structural certification experience and developing new simulation methodologies.
