Accounting Operations Contractor

About the role

We are a private family office managing a diverse portfolio and operations across multiple entities and departments. Our accounting operations are currently outsourced to an external firm, and the function's rapid growth has created an opportunity to strengthen internal processes and structure. This role is here to ensure close runs on time, coding is consistent and accurate and deliverables SLA and process are documented and adhered to. What you'll do

  • Build daily, weekly and monthly checklists for our outside accounting firm and internal teams
  • Tighten the AP process, cadence, with QC and review built in
  • Bring close timing down month over month to T+14 by month 6 and document what moves it
  • Own internal accounting process such as credit card, travel log and reimbursements, payroll and benefits booking, and allocations
  • Produce and present to internal teams a monthly exception report: what reconciled, what didn't, what SLA slipped, what's outstanding
  • Write the record of how accounting operations actually works, sla and owners — AP, approvals, posting, recons, close. What the external firms does, what we do, where it breaks
  • That written record is the main deliverable at month 6. Running day-to-day on time is how we get there
  • What we're looking for

  • 12+ years in accounting, CPA preferred
  • You've run close and AP at scale in a comparable FHO or UHNW setting; exposure to outsourced accounting, multi-entity, or public accounting serving family office clients required

  • Sage Intacct, multi-entity. Bill.com and Ramp useful

  • Discreet and collaboration
