Role summary

Freedom Technology Solutions Group seeks a Senior Cloud Engineer to support intelligence analysis products. This role involves enhancing client capabilities through design, development, modernization, and operations in cloud environments, primarily AWS. Responsibilities include assessing existing systems, driving DevSecOps adoption, architecting secure pipelines, leading containerized deployments, implementing geospatial data processing and API integrations, and troubleshooting performance. The engineer will lead system architecture discussions, rapid prototyping, and application modernization in AWS, utilizing CI/CD with GitLab. Key technologies include Linux, Java, JavaScript, Python, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift), AWS services, Spark, and ETL processes. A TS/SCI clearance is required, along with 9-13 years of cloud and software development experience.

Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support our client’s intelligence analysis products and capabilities. This position involves providing cloud expertise to enhance existing and emerging client capabilities, including design and development, modernization of existing applications and services, and operations and sustainment. The role focuses on driving the client’s adaptation of higher levels of automation and operational efficiency through agile development methodologies, rapid prototyping, and modern technology stacks.

Responsibilities:

  • Assessment of existing environment, identification of potential approaches to increase CORE DevSecOps adoption, and integration of applications into Cloud environment as needed.
  • Architect and optimize secure DevSecOps pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
  • Lead containerized solution deployments across hybrid and cloud (AWS) environments.
  • Implement and optimize geospatial data processing and API integrations.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and improve system performance.
  • Lead system architecture discussions and recommend improvements.
  • Develop input on deliverables, schedules, and performance metrics.
  • Lead rapid prototyping to quickly iterate and improve solutions.
  • Utilize modern technology stacks to meet client needs.
  • Direct the migration, scaling, and modernization of applications in AWS environments.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
  • Support proposal writing, technical white papers, and client briefings.
  • Define technical standards, cloud guidelines, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.

    • Required Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance (eligible for CI Poly).
  • 9-13 years cloud and software development experience.
  • Experience in Java, JavaScript, and Python.
  • Experience with DevSecOps pipelines, Agile methodologies, and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab).
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services (Lambda, ECS, S3, RDS, etc.).
  • Skilled in containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
  • Experience with geospatial data frameworks and APIs (e.g., GeoServer, PostGIS, ArcGIS).
  • Using GitLab for code source repository and using GitLab CI/CD.
  • Developing customized code, scripts, modules, macro procedures, or libraries for specialized spatial analysis functions using languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, PHP, C, C++, C#, Perl, or similar.
  • Experience working independently with clients or stakeholders to develop user stories for full-service consumer and business applications.

    • Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working independently with clients or stakeholders to develop user stories for full-service consumer and business applications
  • Experience with government and/or commercial imagery products, including SAR or related RADAR imaging technologies
  • Developing geospatial information systems (GIS) and working with open-source and proprietary geospatial formats
  • Using and developing common geospatial tools, data, and operating platforms such as:
  • Tools: Boundless Spatial suite, Remote View, PostGRES/PostGIS, Oracle Spatial, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, Image Server, File Geodatabases
  • Data Formats: KML, KMZ, NITF, TIFF, JPEG, GeoPDF, and similar geo-related formats and data structures
  • Abstracting new or legacy systems via standards-based APIs, including Open Geospatial Consortium standards
  • Developing terrain analysis visualization and algorithms
  • Developing automated detection algorithms
  • Experience with Argo Workflows
