Role summary

The Program Manager will support the successful delivery of Girls on the Run (GOTR) programming across Durham, Wake, and Orange Counties. This role involves coordinating program logistics, fostering positive relationships with site contacts, coaches, and families, and ensuring program quality. Key responsibilities include managing program and participant materials, overseeing registration, recruiting and supporting coaches, and managing programming interns. The position requires proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with some evening and weekend availability during peak seasons. This is a hybrid role with limited remote work during peak times.

Position Summary:

The Program Manager supports the successful delivery of GOTR programming throughout the Triangle.

Responsibilities include the overall coordination of the Spring/Fall programs, creating and sustaining

positive relationships with site contacts, coaches, and families, and ensuring the quality of programming.

Program and Site Coordination:

● Assist the Program Director in developing GOTR site relationships.

● Review and respond to site applications and assist with program implementation.

● Initiate the first step of the Facility Use application for counties, 30 days prior to the season

starting.

● Oversee program and participant materials, supplies, and paperwork.

● Coordinate pre-season and in-season site visits.

● Assist in the management of program registration and communicate results to sites,

parents, and coaches.

● Address Strategic Plan goals for growing community impact and participation in Durham,

Orange, and Wake counties by launching new delivery and retention strategies.

● Support registration communication with families, including registration confirmation or

waitlist status, via email.

● Communicate and respond to all questions and concerns from families, coaches, and site

contacts in a timely, respectful, and productive fashion.

● Create/update a comprehensive site recruitment contact sheet.

● Promote end of the season 5K to all program sites to encourage participation.

● Assist with program evaluation measures.

Coach Management:

● Screen and recruit potential GOTR coaches, ensuring all sites have 3 well-qualified and

committed coaches per team.

● Review volunteer applications and respond to each in a timely manner; maintain

correspondence with applicants throughout placement and onboarding.

● Assign coaches according to geographic and scheduling needs.

● Serve as the primary contact for coaches, supporting them throughout the season via phone,

email, BAND app engagement, and site visits.

● Develop/maintain positive and effective working relationships with coaches and site liaisons.

● Provide semimonthly communication with support, seasonal information, and updates.

● Organize logistics for and co-lead coach training, celebrations, and meetings.

● Oversee coach materials and paperwork.

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

● Work with the Program Director to provide data for GOTR-I Season Impact Reports.

● Manage programming interns.

● Assist in additional duties as assigned by the Program Director or Executive Director.

Required Skills/Characteristics:

● Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years equivalent experience, ideally in youth development, public health,

education, or social work.

● Passionate about GOTR’s mission and a positive role model for health and self-esteem.

● Strong presentation skills with knowledge of, or openness to learning, GOTR programs.

● Skilled in recruiting, training, and motivating community-based volunteers.

● Strong communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills.

● Calm under pressure; dependable in meeting personal and organizational goals.

● Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, especially during seasonal peaks.

● Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, databases, and email tools.

● Creative, brave decision-maker with adaptability to challenges.

● Bilingual skills are a plus, but not required.

Working Conditions:

● Some evening and weekend availability required during peak seasons and events.

● Reliable transportation to travel to program sites, as needed.

● Occasional lifting of supplies and materials (up to 50 lbs).

● Hybrid Work but limited during peak seasons.

Compensation:

We are able to offer a salary of $45,000 - $50,000 annually, along with the following benefits:

● 13 holidays per year

● 8 hours of paid time off per month (totaling 25 combined PTO days)
