The ideal candidate has prior experience building and scaling analytics functions in a growth-stage B2B SaaS company. Key responsibilities include setting the analytics roadmap, defining trusted company metrics, enabling self-serve analytics, and delivering critical analysis for customer pilots, product usage, and financial reporting. This role requires strong technical depth in SQL, data modeling, statistics, and experimentation, along with experience in modern BI tools like Looker. The position is hybrid, based in Boston, and emphasizes collaboration and data-driven impact.

Insurance plays an important role in people’s lives, providing protection and peace of mind through life’s adventures and unexpected turns. In the moments that matter, people want to know their insurer is there for them. At Hi Marley, we help insurers deliver on that promise through communication that brings greater clarity and connection to the policyholder experience.

About the role

You'll build the analytics function that helps every part of Hi Marley make better decisions with data. Reporting to our Chief Product Officer, you'll lead a team of two, including a Manager of Analytics, and grow it as demand expands. Data Engineering owns the pipelines and the governed data foundation. You own how we use that data to run the business, and you'll make sure the metrics we share with customers are the ones we run on. If you like setting strategy and still diving into the data yourself, you'll love this role.

We’re in our Boston office Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays to connect, collaborate, and learn together. Recurring meetings typically run between 9:30am and 4:30pm for commuter flexibility.

What you'll do

  • Lead and grow the analytics team, with shared standards, tools, and career paths, while each analyst embeds with the functions they support
  • Define and govern core company metrics, and build self-serve access so leadership and board reporting run on one trusted source
  • Deliver the analysis teams need most: adoption and testing for Product, pilot readouts for Customer Success and Growth, and usage data for FP&A
  • Set analytics priorities and standards with Data Engineering, including the direction of our internal visualization tooling
  • Your first year

  • First 90 days: You've met with each function's leader, published a 12-month analytics roadmap, and gotten your hiring plan approved.
  • By month 6: Each core KPI has one certified definition, and customer pilots run on a standard measurement playbook.
  • By month 12: Product analytics shapes what we build, teams across the company use self-serve, and your team has grown to plan.
  • What you'll bring

  • 10+ years in analytics, including 5+ leading teams, and a track record of building and scaling an analytics or BI function at a B2B SaaS or growth-stage company
  • Hands-on range across product, customer, and financial analytics, from funnels and experiments to pilot readouts and billing data
  • Strong SQL, data modeling, statistics, and experimentation, plus modern BI tools like Looker
  • Able to work from our Boston office 3 days a week
  • Nice to have

  • Experience in insurance, fintech, or another regulated industry
  • Analytics experience with a usage- or outcome-priced product
  • Don't check every box? If this role excites you, we'd still love to hear from you.
